There's no magic boost number that is "safe" some of these sbe's handle a lot of hp and some don't. There are quite a few factors involved with keeping these motors alive. Good fuel, good tune up (low timing and watching the plugs), low rpm, etc.
That being said from what I've read 17#'s seems to be the "magic number" that people are taking these motors to "reliably". I'm running about 15-16#'s, but I just switched mine over to E-85. I haven't really had the opportunity to datalog and check plugs. Stock48 told me that 1000 hp seems to be the point where the L92 block tends to break around the top of the cylinders. Hope this helps
