What's a good spark plug wire?
 

What is a good durable spark plug wire? I've tired the taylor and MSD "streetfire" wires, but they didn't last long.
I like to check my plugs often, so the wires are frequently removed. On the taylor wires, the part that snaps onto the plug would remain on the plug and either the crimp would come off the wire, or the wire would break.
On the "streetfire" wires, the boots keep tearing.

I'm having to gap my plugs down to .018" with stock wires, so I'd think a lower-resistance aftermarket wire would be better than stockers.

Also, it's hard to keep the wires off my long tubes when using the straight boot on the plug end. I would think a 45° or 90° end would be better, but not entirely necessary.

Any suggestions?

If you're rough with any wire they'll break. If they're sticking to the plug, use some di-electric grease around the boot before putting it on

And there are many wire removal pliers available to assist removal of plug wires, where they grab the boot near the plug so it doesnt strain anything

Firecore are good, but if you're too rough with anything you can break them

I run Firecore as well, and like them. They fit well, and don't have any issues, and cost the same as the others on the market.

Di-electric grease will make a big difference pulling the boots off.

Yes, I dielectric grease them each time they are put on. It helps with getting the boot off, but not the metal part that snaps over the end of the plug.

And yes, I'm as gentle as you can possibly be trying to get them off in one piece. Sometimes dicking with a single wire for 10 minutes or more.

Thanks for the firecore recommendation. Suggestions on who to purchase them through?

I have used MSD on 3 engines now and had to replace them at least 1 time on each setup, but they seem to fail quickly if removal and reinstall happens more than a couple times, especially if they are hard to reach and you do not remove them and reinstall them gently and correctly.

Move to a stud terminal vs the snap and you will thank me

Actually I went thru 2 sets of MSD 8.5mm, there silicone boots is what is weak, too thin in my case and they split. I have a D!SC 02 vette about 10lbs of boost. I just bought Duralast Gold from Autozone and believe it or not I like them a lot. Close to OEM and same material used. My engine produces a lot of heat so far so good.

I had MSD wires on mine for about 7-8 years before changing to Firecore.

Never had a single problem with the MSD, just fancied a change

I tried Taylors and MSDs....they all break and didn't do anything for performance that I could feel anyway.

Stock LSx wires were always rock solid and worked great. I ended up having to use my stock wires that I saved when the Taylors and MSDs broke.....LOL

Also, PepBoys wires are also great.
