Default Question for those who have stood up radiators.

Ok so I am having this issue where the guy who I bought the car from had already stood the radiator up and he took two pieces of metal to hold it up and bolted them to either side of the supports where the backside of the radiator is rubbing against them and rubbing a hole in it.

I have seen people with covers over the top of the radiator to hold them in that are usually polished metal of some kind and my question is does someone sell that or are they always custom made?

I used a cheap 18" brake to bend up a piece of sheet metal. The rad sits on rubber mounts and every point where the rad touches something is rubber isolated...used a cut up tire tube sloppy style. I am sure there is an option from a vendor but this was easy and cheap.

That actually looks pretty good. I am hoping that someone just makes something that looks like what you have on the top and I can just install it.

Everything about standing up the rad is custom and the dimensions of the notch and rad will vary making a produced piece difficult to find...you may have to measure and get someone to make one.

Ok thanks for the information. I guess I'll try and find a local pace that can do it.

I took some simple measurements and had a friend bend one up at work. It worked out perfect.

What metal did you use? Aluminum of some kind I am sure?

I used aluminum on my old setup and bent it up with some wood

Thanks for the ideas. Looks like what I'm seeing on everyone's car is a custom thing.
