Mild turbo cam recommendations for fast spool 4.8L
Hey guys
Am accumulating parts for my turbo LY2 (4.8) build and debating what cam to go for. Motor is going in a truck so looking for something that promotes fast spool as sick of top end focused current NA setup where I have to thrash it to get it moving. As such also wondering whether I even need a cam as really dont want to lose much (any) from the low end.
Turbos yet to be decided but will be aiming at mid-range powerband, will be stock bottom end and only ARP head bolts and upgraded valve springs up top. Again not looking to rev the **** out out of it but would be nice if it doesnt run outa puff too early. Thanks, Matt

I'm building a 4.8 turbo impala ss and will have it running in a week or so. it is a stock engine with ls6 valve springs only and an on3 76/65 . should be just what you want.
I have ran a stock 6.0 with springs only and a 78/75 turbo and it worked great. very fast spoolup and good power out of boost.

Stay small. Too many people go overboard on cams. Low 200s duration @ .050 will keep it snappy. As Yenkomike said, even a stock cam will run well. I've got a JFR 218 cam in my 5.3 and it sounds like every other Tahoe you've ever heard. Driving around is fine, once it's in boost, it's an animal.

Thanks guys, I posted something similar over on performancetrucks and also had the triple12 recommended. Seems like these are really popular, any experiences on what the low end economy (ie off boost) is like compared to stock? How do they rev out compared to the factory LY2 cam?
