Is anyone running this turbo? What is everyone's thoughts on it behind a 5.3?

svslow 11-10-2016 07:56 AM

Interesting, I have not seen that one yet. Still has the smaller-ish turbine though.

JoeNova 11-10-2016 08:04 AM

I can't imagine it would make anything over their billet 78. That turbine has been a restriction since they crossed the 76mm threshold.

Have they released a billet 78 yet?

JoeNova 11-10-2016 08:32 AM

VS Racing has the billet 7875 now. Only a matter of time before On3 has the compressor housings cast with their name on them and starts selling them.

Restricted to what, about 850-900whp?

I have the 84mm coming tomorrow to compare to the 7875. I'm curious if it truly will spool faster as they say and flow a decent amount more. Honestly if it just flows what a PT7675CEA does for less then half the price then I'll be happy.

I ordered the 84mm because the cast 78mm wheel didn't seem to keep up in the higher RPM's. Most I could get out of it was spike 26-27psi and then taper to 21psi above 6k RPM. It didn't have the top end charge the PTE7675 CEA did as that would hold 24-25PSI to 7k easily.

Did you have the cast or billet 7875?

In that case, you should still see some gains from wheel weight alone.

Any idea on a time frame when you'll have a comparison?

I love this, a real world comparison. Do you plan to put it on the rollers as well....or just compare the slips? I think you will be pleased with the new unit.

So I visited their website, and found a couple of things to be interesting. If they rate their turbos output at the crank, it definitely appears that they are sandbagging with the output numbers. They rate the 84mm turbo at 950.....but I'm using the 7876 and I'm making about 900 (crank) with a soft tuneup. I guess it's better to underrate...than to overrate. I also found it interesting that they are still using a .80ar compressor covet with the bigger wheel, seems they would have opened it up more to take advantage of the bigger wheel. Still seems to be a good value though. And found it even more interesting to see them using a Th350 in their test car....and running 9.0s.

I've never dynoed it, just made hits at the track. Hopefully it gains something otherwise just a giant waste of time. Trying to decide what to do for a longer term solution, I keep debating doing twins for a cheap higher power solution.

I'm planning on making the same swap in the spring. Curious to see your results

Subbed for the results. Would like to see how this will work.

In for results, my billet 78/75 just arrived. Curious to see your results
