Default Where to get Chain drive when i upgrade to F1R

Just like title says im wanting to convert to a chain drive for piece of mind. I think i may have had belt slippage, i found some black powder remenents on the backet when i cleaned all the parts up when i took it all apart. Do i need to get then machined or call procharger and get them when i upgrade? Justin

Is that Scott's old car??? i was just wondering if you really were seeing belt slip..... there will always be some dust...... if theres a ton of it and you see your boost slipping you have a problem..... if not why do it....

The car would only make 7 lbs max Rob Raymer confirmed that. I call up procharger and gave them the pulley sizes and its was spinning at 67,000. 70,000 is the max on that blower. So it wasnot makeing boost for some reason and the BOV was closeing so something had to have been slipping. Im just wanting to do this for peice of mind.

Last year at World Ford Challenge I saw alot of cars with chain drives, and alot of cars with broken chain drives.

Most of the big blower cars I saw at WFC this year had big cog setups.

I'm not sure what the best solution would be, just noting my observation.

The chain will not be reliable. You cannot road drive a chain. A 8mm X 50mm cog drive should drive your blower with no problems.

Kurt, ideally you would do cogs over 12 rib? I know someone who did a 10 rib but it sounded like the belt selection was limited.

Chain drives like to rip stuff up when they break, but then again so do belts on some occasions. Isn't there a reverse chain drive Procharger also? Is that a F2? F3?

ATI sells chain drive stuff, but by nature of the setup, chain drives aren't very reliable.

My radiator is raked forward a bit since I removed the stock airbox. I can fit a 12 rib no problem. I think I might go 12 rib when I upgrade to the YSi later this summer.

I think SDCE can make 12 rib setups, that w/their spring tensioner in my mind would be the ultimate belt setup....

SD's stuff actually works........

Buddy of mine broke the chain drive on his car, and it was messy as hell. Blower shaft is bent, tore a hole in the carbon fiber hood, busted up the water pump and oil pump, and tore a bunch of lines to ****. Atleast when a belt brakes it'll just flop around like a fish, not be a swinging metal piece of death.

The slipping dust usually shows up right around the blower pulley and it will be all over the blower, having minor dust on the standoffs is normal.......as long as its a light dusting its all good...
