Wow, that's a lot of turbo for dirt *** cheap lol.
It looks pretty nice too.
Have you sold enough of these to have any feedback on them John?

Pics of mine if anyone wants them... It's identical hotside wheel wise near as me and my caliper can tell.

That was just the mandatory turbo next to a beer pic for size reference! Man I never even liked Corona, but a buddy put a shot of Bacardi Limon in one for me once and ever since I’ve developed a taste for em’ that way.

Good info 86! BTW - a shot is what it takes to make a Corona taste good or 2!

Not without machine work. I had my borg 96mm CHRA machined down for the t4 housing by forced inductions. Then slapped the china 76mm compressor wheel and housing on it.

So I take it the consensus is that the billet clone is as good or better than the cast genuine 80?

Performance wise, I’d say they are at least as good as… Who knows if they are as reliable though.

There is also some confusion as to the actual wheel dimensions. This is the cast S480 dimensions straight from BORG.

I was told the cast S480 had an 110mm exducer (109.73 really) But if you include the 3mm extended tips, it’s 115.8.

When I asked Viren as VSracing and asked what the exducer was on the VS racing S480, he said 117mm. I’m not sure if that was closer to 115.8 and he was just getting a rough measurement with some calipers and came up with 117mm? Or if it really is 1.2mm longer. I’d guess unless the compressor housing was machined to accept the larger wheel that it’s the same size.

Above I have a measurement from the hub to the blade tip on the inducer of the VSracing unit. But I don’t have a hub to blade tip measurement on a cast S480. (can anyone get this?) A lot of times the hub is much smaller and though the diameter is the same 80mm, the blade length is actually greater.

That is a pretty looking compressor wheel. It looks like there in now a similar one available with an 88mm inducer? I wonder if lil john is gonna carry that one too? I'm thinking that the one in Forcefeds photos is the same one as on Matt's Colorado? For the price difference why not just jump to the 88? With the same turbine I would think it would spool at a similar rate?

If you don’t need it to meet your goals an 8mm larger wheel will spool noticeably slower. The S488 also costs $260 more. According to many… the exhaust wheel is what’s holding you back on the 80+mm wheels. Seems weird the new S484/85mm wheels keep making more power if that’s the case though.

Just ordered a cast s480 from John yesterday. You just don't hear of borg failing much.
I'll admit the newer China stuff is doing very well the past few years. And I was close and I mean close to buying this unit. The cast s480 will do most people goals but billet sounds so much better.

Short lived first track visit. Popped a HG after a few passes. Running E85 at 10.8:1 AFR, 13*, and 20lbs. Last pass the #4 cyl started leaking coolant into the CC. Plugs looked good. Latest trans rebuild has some sort of problem as well. The TB doesn’t release correctly, so I wasn’t using it. Even leaving off the foot brake I was still able to make 8lbs easily and 20lbs in under 2 seconds. Had to dumb it down to get it to hook ramping in boost over 4 seconds. Did a few 9.7’s at 150 (3200lbs) Was expecting a bit more. Hope to have it apart this weekend and have injectors flowed maybe find where the power is going.

Even with the crazy tight 14 stator 9.5” PTC I had zero issues making boost and making it fast.

here for info, im about 2 weeks out from buying a S480 from LJMS. BW $1400 vs VS $800 is a huge price difference if the performance is of equal value. BW have a very high reputation so im curious to see how long and hard the VS run

I will be selling my S475 in favor for the billet VSR 80 so I should have good results with bigger cubes

Made 800 to the tire on 12lbs with 408/CNC 241's/10.75:1/232/234 NA cam. We will see what the VSR 80 does for me.

The s475 spooled stupid fast so I'm hoping this 80 spools just as quick!!
