Default T6 or twin T4 for 1000 rwhp

Trying to decide between going single t6 or twin t4 for my 1000 rwhp 1/4 mile car. What are pros and cons of each. Thanks

You can make 1000whp with a single T4 as well....

Cons of twins are usually money and added weight/engine bay room/added maintenance (two of everything).

A little more information on your set up would be helpful. But for 1000whp, two large frame turbos are need needed.

You don't need two turbos to make 1000 rwhp, it makes it easier but like stated above it can be done on a single T4.

Google can answer your single or twins question.

All that ever happens here is a big argument and the thread gets locked.

Read the Colorado thread. 992rwhp on a single clone S480. Bent a rod because of a lean issue. Will see what it does after that is fixed......

Doesnt even need google.

Go to car, open hood. Look under it...is there room for two turbos or one ? Which will fit easiest ?

There ya go, that choice is made.

Depends on:
Standard T4 or Mid Frame T4
Engine displacement
Cam selection
Heads
rpm range
How much boost are you comfortable with running.

Forced inductions 1.25 T4 S476 with the 96mm exhaust wheel. Should be capable of 1000whp on any stock cube LS with a proper part combo IMO.

I find the twins package a little nicer than a big T6. They take up less space between the engine and radiator. I prefer installation of twins as there is no dealing with a crossover pipe. Also smaller T4's come in at about 20-25lbs each opposed to roughly 50lbs for a single BW, so weight of the turbos is essentially a wash. Both kits use 2 wastegates with the divided crossover in the T6 kit to use the benefits of the twin scroll. Both kits use 2 BOVs. Hot-side piping is less in a twin kit with 2 short up-pipes opposed to a longer crossover. Comparing 2 smaller 3" downpipes for weight opposed to a bigger 4" or 5" downpipe will come close to a wash as well.

For pricing and weight, both kits are extremely similar.

I am a twin guy at heart so I would run that myself, plus you have far more turbo options, however with our new V3 designs of both the Twin and the T6 kit you cannot go wrong with either, both are awesome!!

Jon, with your twin setup, do the downpipes essentially exit where LT headers would exit?

To the OP - the twins will spool faster than a single T6 or larger T4. But if you're only after 1/4 mile times, that probably won't matter much.

Quite close but not exact. If you want to run them into a set of true duals for example, it would be very easy to fab a pipe once installed to mate to the duals!

Thanks for the reply. Yeah the weight was a concer . With the ceramic bearings and billet wheels. I was thinking twins would spool like a light switch. Now the true duals is really spiking my imagination

I'm in the process of running twins with a true dual setup(bullet straight thru muffler)similar to this. Going twin S366 now with the same goal of 1000+whp, while trying to maintain a sleeper appearance. I previously had a large single T6 on this car with a 4" dp ran down where the a/c was originally. Sacrificed ground clearance a bit trying to run 4" exhaust all the way out back, then y into 3" duals for the same sleeper look

you can make a 1000 on a single t4 like stated above without a problem. you don't need twins or big twins. billet s476 will get it done
