Heartbeat or Whipple for Chevy SS Sedan?
Now that there are two CARB-certified options for us Kalifornians, I have a decision to make: 2.3L Heartbeat, or 2.9L Whipple.
What say you, and why?

I 2nd that....2.9 Whipple. Why, you ask? Simple, a better blower in my opinion. See below....running a 4.0 Whipple myself. Hadn't installed it yet, but can't wait.

Get a smog tech on your side and build it how you want. I always have illegal **** but it's **** I like. Never have cats, monster turbos, and cut outs are a must in my life

I think the TVS2300 is a bit more efficient then the 2.9L Whipple. Seen ~850-900 out of both blowers on strokers but the 2.9L required bit more boost to get there.
Really comes down to which one you get a deal on and which you think looks better really, not a huge difference in performance. Your probably limited on power output anyway if you're looking to stay within emissions rules.

I understand you want to go with a aftermarket blower but a LSA blower is sweet for the price. They like 1200 bucks new. With a smaller pulley and some port work I see your car coming a beast with GM reliability.

The blower body alone may be $1200 but then you need all the other stuff to make it work, pulleys, brackets, tensioner, heat exchanger, reservoir, pump, etc... its often $3000-3500 all said and done with an LSA setup. Nothing wrong with them, just more then the price of the blower alone when comparing to another companies kit that comes with everything you need to install. Under 650hp LSA is a solid option.

I totally understand where you coming from. I still think the LSA blower would be the best BANG FOR THE BUCK. Porting the blower adds 40rwhp all way across the board according to a article I read on GM EFI website.

Research some junkyards. You would (maybe) be amazed at the high horsepower goodies that some idiot wrecked with low mileage. Depending on the junkyard, you may be able to find all of the needed accessories to go with an LSA blower, possibly including the whole engine and transmission with wiring and ECU. It all depends on where you live.
