I can't help your situation, but man those are two beautiful cars you have. Love the color on the ss, and the vette is just nasty.

Wow thanks for all the info and pics. I was about to sell my s480 and get a smaller turbo. I can't wait to see what it will make. I'm running a full exhaust back to my cme and putting a electronic dump up front. I'd like to see how people routed there exhaust.
From what I've read I should be able to move my rad forward enough to clear the turbo.

I have an ls and LT rad. Should I use the LT1 ?

Thanks again guys

Do you have pics of your exhaust set up from off the turbo going back to where a "Y" pipe would be?

Interesting.

Thats exactly how I wanted to dump my DP....then add the cut-out and run the exhaust back on the drivers side of the engine.

But now I'm confused......will the S485 that I will be using...does the exhaust of the turbo face the drivers side like your turbo does....?

Because in looking at the Huron Speed web site at the kit I bought....it looks like the exhaust faces the passengers side.....then makes a turn and goes over to the drivers side....then back to the exhaust like yours.
http://shop.huronspeedproducts.com/N...it-hspv3ac.htm

Or do turbo exhausts face both ways....and you just order which way you need it to point...?

On my 436ci stroker and 427ci stroker....the LT1 radiator definitely cooled a little better.

Its now on my iron 390ci and I run cool as a cucumber......

And you will get an additional port on the bottom drivers side that I clamped a 6 inch piece of heater hose to, with a brass plug in the end. It makes for a great flush port. Drains fast......unlike that terrible factory petcock drain.

What diameter is the exhaust piping that runs off your DP rearward to the exhaust?

Can you do a hard run with the cut-out closed....? Does it hurt anything to do that?

Or is it just less power being made...? But safe to do.

Exhaust is 3 or 3.5 can't remember and it just doesn't make as much power but it's way quieter.

The particular kit I have faces the drivers side but a lot of their kits do face the passenger.

I did the same thing with my dp and exhaust going back. Only differance is I use a boost activated cutout so I just floor it and it opens on its own. Pretty cool but it sits pretty low and I have scrapped one of the mounting studs of the cutout.

No real issue but it I need to raise the front end a little. Its pretty low.

So you can do a hard WOT run with or without the cut-out open....same boost setting......and it will be safe.....you just won't make as much power?

Is it a huge difference in power...or just a little bit slower?

I guess I could just dump the DP towards the passengers side....then have to run the 3" exhaust over to the other side somehow.

Depending how much power u want to make the 3 inch exhaust would be fine for around 700whp. Anything over that the full exhaust would be very restrictive.
I'm going to keep the boost around 7-8lbs when my cutout is closed to keep back pressure to minimum. I only plan on running full boost with my cutout open.

Yeah with it closed you can drive it however you want it just doesn't make as much power. It's a pretty big loss with it closed.

At the press of a button. I'm going to run an electric boost controller.

Honestly I'm not sure, the shop that put the kit on may have made it. They did a lot of different things to make the kit fit better from what I understood.

My cutout is under the driver floor board and it still makes a huge difference when its open as opposed to closed utilizing the full exhaust.
That way I as able to add it to the existing exhaust and it was far enough away from the turbo that it should last a long time as well as being more cost effective for install.
Either way its the best of both worlds, quiet for cruising and obnoxious with the flip of a switch lol.

I got some before turbo numbers today. I made just shy of 480 wheel and 455t at 6000 rpm.
Pretty solid numbers for a full exhaust system with 3 mufflers
Next trip to the dyno she will have a billet wheel s480 feeding it.

Which radiator do you have and how did you make it work like you did without having to cut the frame? What did you use to cut the hole for the fill area? I'd love to do that without cutting the entire frame.

One step closer to having the turbo kit on.
This weekend the car got the turbo k member installed and the oil pan tapped.
While swapping the turbo k member it also got a tubular upper and lower a Arms ,willwood brakes and some poly engine mounts.
Id like to have the kit on in a couple weeks. Almost time to see what this s480 will make on my 408
