Default D1sc procharger with straight cut gears

Hey guys I'm looking at getting a D1sc with straight cut gears. I've done a lot of searching and everyone says it's pretty loud, but how loud is it inside the car when cruising at 70 mph? My car will be seeing long road trips so I don't want it so loud where my ears will be in pain.

Really the only time you will notice the straight cut gears is at idle. An that's if you have a cam. Driving you won't notice the noise.

I agree, the only time you will hear the straight cut gears is at very low speeds. Bob

And at slow speeds is it a slight whine is it annoyingly loud? My car is bone stock.

No I wouldn't say it is annoyingly loud, but the definition of noise is different to everyone. Bob

The litmus test of whether or not the sound will bother you is whether or not you ask about it. Combine this with your previous statement about making long road trips, and I feel you will regret this purchase. Most of these blowers would not go on "bone stock" cars, so the aftermarket exhaust systems would drown out blower noise. This really does boil down to individual preference, but the incessant whine of straight cut gears on a long road trip would really be an acquired taste.

Agree - at 75 mph all I hear is my exhaust with my D1 - 2005 model.

But a stoplights - anyone in the know - knows there is a supercharger under the hood.

If you have to drop your grandmother off at church - during the ride she will probably ask "what the heck is that noise"?

at idle you can hear it but not annoying or absurd at all. the F series are loud imo but D1 is not going to be something that bothers you. with windows up and stereo on I don't notice it.
