Boost in first gear ?
My BOV was leaking during a leak down test, so I took it off to test . I just started another thread on the subject. Thanks Cyber Z , for the input.
I havent had a chance to make another WOT pull through 2nd gear to see if the BOV was causing a boost leak yet. I did do a waste gate spring test and the valve starts opening at between 8 and 9 lbs (10 lbs spring ). Having watched the pull I made through second gear several times now, it looks like the turbo builds 6+ lbs (6.7 max ) almost instantly in the beginning of first and second gear, then tappers back into the low 5s, high 4s at higher RPMs. Seeing as I am reading boost at the intake manifold, after going through all my piping AND a good sized innercooler, is it likely that mid 6 psi is what Im getting with the spring after loses, and that the exhaust is pushing the waste gate valve at higher RPMs ? In other words, should I go ahead and start setting up the boost controller and use , say 5.5 lbs as the start point for boost assist from the controller ?
