Default Straight thru bullet muffler, how close can I get off the turbine?

as the title says, im running an up pipe thru hood and have a 9" bullet style muffler but im not sure how close is too close. the softening point of fiberglass is like 1600f and melting is around 2200 according to google.. its gonna be driven on the street here and there so i wanna run this muffler but im limited on room, heres kinda what im working with its a pretty long pipe for under hood but its gonna be in one if the straight sections obviously ..

I'd be more concerned with heat radiating from the turbo and exhaust pipe. Ceramic coating and wrap will also help (barely noticeable) dB output.

****** is right, that ain't gonna be a sleeper lol

Im gonna heat wrap everything of course, i have a turbo blanket as well.

my buddy has a similar length downpipe and did a before and after and the small muffler actually makes a huge difference, although its still loud its not nearly as bad.

Ive read that these straight thru mufflers actually improve flow to an extent so im not too worried about that i just dont no how close you can get to the outlet before egt's are an issue... couldnt find much on it with a quick search...

Mine is about 24" from the turbine. Its not much quieter, but it does kill the rasp so it doesn't sound like a tractor

I've got a cutout under the drivers floor board, if I'm next to anything at full song it makes my ears ring and gives me a chubby.
Winning.
I envy you guys with your fender exits and no ***** given hood exits lol.

Are you sure it's fiberglass? Could be steel shavings. Anyway I threw two mufflers hopefully keeping the rasp down. First muffler is about 10" off the turbine.

Isn't that a Dynamax Mini Race Bullet?
Those don't have ANY packing.

It wouldn't be an issue to put it right after the turbine. Before the turbine is where exhaust gas is really hot and the temperature drops quite a bit when it's no longer compressed. It's not much different than having it at the end of a header collector on a non-turbo application.

yeah thats the one i got, and i just assumed there was FG packing haha..

In that case, I might just put it right off the housing because thats where i have plenty of room.
maybe ill post a video up when its done, don't know if it will put the noise level into perspective in video but it might..

If those are Dynomax 3" mufflers in your picture, they don't make any sound reduction ---at all.
