A2W intercooler suggestions I've decided to go with A2W intercooler on my Silverado. Since its a street truck i will be using an interchiller to cool the water so no ice. What cheaper a2w intercoolers have been used with good results. Plus with the Interchiller i believe a cheaper intercooler will be fine. I will eventually swap to a Chiseled or similar if the ebay one leaves more to be desired. i would say run the largest one you can get. i have one in my silverado. i hung it from the crossmember below the radiator. i am thinking about changing it out because it takes too long to recover between pulls right now so i want to find one that has more flow area on the air side, like the one you chose. i posted some data in your thread on pt.net this is the one i currently have: https://www.cxracing.com/index.php?r...roduct_id=2671 |
Yea, i'm pretty much looking for the largest one i can find. Just seeing if anyone knows of something bigger than the one i found before i buy it. |
I am curious about running a pair of smaller a2w units instead of one big one. Would that possibly keep temps cool enough? My thoughts are a pair in the corners of the bumper like the procharger twin intercooler setup. |

About everyone that uses frozen boost has had good luck out of there intercoolers and heat exchangers |

Been done on a TT corvette using precision pt1000s I think. Worked great! If it was a supercharged setup you need to ensure you get a good spilt of the air bit other than that it should work well. |

But I could see it not being very efficient once the first cooler heats up. Series would still work as you basically increase the time the water has to absorb the heat. STeve Morris did a power boat engine that ran a chiselled 3000 bhp cooler and then a Whipple intercooled intake (cold water ran to the Whipple intake and THEN to the chiselled). Steve reported very low intake temps with this setup! One thing you would need to ensure is that you are pumping the water fast enough though and you have enough tank. |

I run a cx racing 1000hp unit 3" inlet/outlet on my supercharger 5.3 estimated hp is 700 at the crank. I also run 750ml of 50/50 meth on a progressive controller. 93*F ambient I was seeing 100-120*F IAT and below ambient with the meth on. I use a 1 gallon fuel swirl pot as my reservoir and a 14x18x1.5" heat exchanger and a David Craig EBP 40 pump. Worked great. The W2A intercooler was purchased as justintercoolers off eBay as it's another seller for CX racing but it's cheaper. Pump was $200, tank was $70 and the exchanger was about $80. Run an exchanger of your on the street. For the strip run a 5-10gallon tank with ice and no exchanger. Best pump is the EMP, but the CWA50 is a beast as well and the EBP40 is right below that. U want lower flow but high pressure as u will see 6psi easily in a setup after all the restrictions. Engine coolant pumps down work well with smaller lines and higher pressures. |
Dude, I've got exactly what you need and lucky for you it is for sale. I ran this set up on my procharged 408 in my 4110lb 2006 silverado and got me to a quickest pass of 8.99 @ 154 mph.
