fine tuning my build, hptuners
hey everyone, this is my first post since joining this forum group, about a month ago I acquired a 98 Camaro that was built by previous owner, I since kind of fell in love with the car and purchased hptuners in order to further my knowledge and abilities as I like to know all areas of my toys, so a little about the car, 98 z28, ls1 with stock bottom end, 317 heads, ticks stage 2 turbo cam, btr .660 springs, bbk intake, on 3 76mm on 5psi currently, deka 60#s , SD tune - soon to come is a alky control meth kit, but waiting to install while learning the tune process, I feel like the car has a really solid base tune, I'm just fine tuning and trying to tune out what I believe to be fake knock at 2,800 rpm and under wot shifts
if anyone has any tips or advice, I'm all ears while growing my knowledge on my new hobby. thanks in advance!

Lower timing at peak torque 4800-5200 3 degrees less and ramp it back in by 6000 rpm. This has always helped with knock in this area. Also make sure to data log burst knock and make sure to up the threshold on that table. It also looks like some transient fueling will help with the lean spikes on shift.

nitroused383 : thanks! the table started out with 18* timing and I pulled 4* off entire map and the small area where I see knock at 2800 rpm I pulled 6*, but when I get it its not under load, so I believe it to be false knock, I may give your method a try on ramping it back in , but why would I not get any knock 2 and 3rd gear?
I have not tried transient fueling but that does sound helpful, which adjustment is it to help with those spikes?

truckdoug: ive also been thinking about that, the charge side piping is very close inside the coresupport area, and ive been considering changing the exhaust up just incase its hitting the k-member, the exhaust harmonics is changing over right at the 2800 mark which I felt could also be causing it, I don't see any reason why I would get real knock at 2800 on light to medium loads

nitroused383 and smokeshow: so looking at my transient tables, it looks exactly like the picture posted EXCEPT under fuel qualifications i do NOT have min rpm and max tps tables.
also under my fuel to wall impact factor i have (20,40,60,80,100 Kpa rows)

ok I added 10 percent to the wall impact , ill see what happens, what sucks about being FI is that I'm usually well over 100 kpa, I guess theres a load hack us older ecm guys are suppose to do ?
I also noticed that when I decal over a long period of time like coming to an off ramp off the interstate, my fuel goes rich (12.3) but shouldn't it be going lean and pull timing?

finally making some headway on my tune, and now my stand alone data logging abilities are not working with the pro unit, so unless i have my laptop with me 24/7, i can not make any progess, anyone have an idea on why it will say its recording, but after x amount of time it will flash the error light at me?

rpturbo: thanks for the info I'm going to remove a few channels and see if my pro unit with work on its own tonight, went to the track last night and had to seat belt the laptop in. haha

no luck on removing channels , still not able to log data with stand alone unit, apparently hptuners is off on the weekends...lucky
on another hand, anyone running sd tune, how much does your tune (a/f) change when you hit 50 degree weather, I had all my LTFT dialed in to about 2-3 percent , first cool night and everything went to about 7-8 percent
