I cant believe some of the cars we used to run, with the brakes they had. Chevy 2 front drums were the scariest that I can recall, literally wrap arms around the wheel and press with both feet and pray Brakes were not something anyone I knew concerned themselves with until the 90's and even then it was almost looked at kinda F&F style for those who did upgrades. Why this was that way I will never understand, more brake = more better.
Been about 25 years since I last had a car with manual drum brakes. It was a 1968 300 Deluxe Chevelle. We put a SBC and T350 in there. Probably made 250 HP and was hard to stop.
Not a fan of Optima since they moved production to Mexico, it seems like their batteries don't last nearly as long. Remember too you have to have charger that is specific for AGM or GEL batteries, a standard wet cell charger won't put a charge in that battery. I am talking about for those winter months coming up.
As far as optimas go, they are a little finicky....don't let them drain if the car has some small power draw.
And like it was mentioned, you need the proper charger for sure. I have had one in my car now for 6 years. I killed 2 by letting them drain and tried to recharge. I am on my 3rd one but Autozone exchanges them with no question.
I think it was linked to having a slow drain, letting it get too low to crank car and then charging back up. I had an optima in my 1998 Silverado and I went 10 years, no issues.
Hey guys I have a 67 & 68 camaro rally sports and I have the factory SS hoods on both . Does anyone know if a Edelbrock Pro Flo will fit under the hood or the air gap intake . Thanx in advance
Mod the manual brake cylinder setup to work on my car... Basically I have to remove the top two factory studs OR per some folks on FB I can just slot the top holes... I tend to over think stuff like this so I'm not sure which way to go haha.
The other is start installing the Dzus fasteners onto the body for the pin on hood.
