Nice! I predict first start before Christmas. One thing about working in the cold, it sure motivates you to keep moving so usually more gets done. Twisting wires can be tricky with numb fingers though, way to keep after it

keep up the progress. I got some miles in on the ol 69 over the weekend and made some progress of my own. The Holley dash is installed, and the interior is back together. still need to bolt the seats down...they're just thrown in the floor for now. on to the meth injection install. almost ready to send those wiring pictures that you requested.

Get in there! One bolt at a time, use torque wrench, be careful with suspension spring. Done

Repeat side two

Run lines, bolt up, call wife to help bleed or one of the young lads. Yell to pump pedal, hold, release bleeder, tighten, yell pump/hold repeat til firm. Must yell though, manly man yell

Thank you (mean) friends.

I ordered new bolts for the arms, one less thing to worry about. I do know how to deal with the springs, I've seen the jack and crow bar method.

Good your clued in on the springs. Just give the side of the control arm where it surrounds the ball joint a good smack with the BFH or three and it should release pretty easy. If not I like to use heat on the spindle and then soak the hell out of it with PB blaster which will wick up into the taper then another smack with the bfh and you should be good to go!

Hoo yah

Leave the ball joint hooked up
floor jack under control arm
undo lower control arms bolts and lower shock
let floor jack down
remove spring
remove control arm (if replacing)
use this method to reinstall spring as well
if anything shifts during process spring will not get to you as you will be protected by spindle assembly
I use this method all the time with no issues
works on modified McPherson strut as well (third gen camaro and fox mustang)

What i do when dropping coil springs, i pass a chain thru the springs coils as well as thru center of the Arm. Keep chain tight looped to the Arm with an adjustable chain link, keeps coil from ever flying out. Drop the Arm, when pressure is off the coil, slack chain and remove.

I've used two small ratchet straps before to compress the spring. Worked much better than a spring compressor and fairly easy to remove after install. I've tried the remove the control arm method too and it works ok, but it can start lifting the car if not enough weight in the car.

Forgot to mention
if the jack does start to lift the car when putting the lower control bolts back in then you can put a ratchet strap from the front axle of the jack to a hole in the subframe of the vehicle

Were they factory springs John or Moroso trick springs? The factory ones are fairly easy to change but those damn trick springs are so long they are a bitch to get in on my car. I went with coil overs now and a ton easier to do.

Stock V6 springs, I cut one coil. Still sits high. A few folks on FB think I should loosen bolts and then see if it settles. I can push on it and get it to move 2-3 inches up and down so I don't think it's bound up. Another knowledgeable 1st gen buddy/racer said it will probably settle another 1.5" inches...

So I'm thinking I'll cut one more coil when I get free time.
