Default 98 Transam, Procharger Pulley misalignment issues

Ok, the car is 98 TA with a 408 and we just slapped on a P1SC Procharger and using an ATI harmonic balancer. The issue we are having is the serpentine belt drive is not aligning itself right with the rest of the pulleys so tearing up the belt. The AC pulley and the blower pulley align themselves correctly though. In doing research, they all seemed to have the issues with the blower belt which I am not having. Has anyone had this problem with the serpentine belt alignment being off with their procharger? I am thinking spacers for the other pulleys to bring them forward a bit perhaps like 1/4".

anyone?

It sounds like your ATI balancer isn't on all the way if your serp belt isn't aligned. You always set that first and make sure it's aligned since everything is factory other than the new balancer. Then play with spacers for the blower bracket so the blower pulley aligns with the crank pulley.

Just it of curiosity a p1sc on a 408? Seems kinda small for such a large engine I hope you can meet your power goals as I feel you'd have to spin that thing hard as **** to not choke your 408. A simple 5.3 build would have been much cheaper and still taken all of the power a p1sc can hand out. Best of luck getting everything aligned

we removed it once and installed it again and same result, we might try it one more time just in case.

I ended up with this P1SC all of a sudden because I couldn't pass on a good deal that suddenly came up on it used. I had actually just built this 408 for spray. First time I'm doing forced induction here, I've always been a nitrous guy!

Eventually, the unit will be upgraded and cam swapped for the proper boost setup. Just want to get this current one running for now.

When you say it's not aligned which way is it? Is the crank pulley too far out or in?

Are you sure the ATI damper for a 347 is the same as the damper that would be used on a 408? Or the Procharger drive pulley is the same that fits on a 347 as on a 408 crank snout with an ATI damper?

Might want to call ATI and find out. Looks to me like there are many different part numbers for ls engines.

For a ProCharger LS engine in a GTO, 98-02 F Body or a Transplant kit, there is only one ATI Performance Products balancer to go with that has the added three holes in the outer skin for the ProCharger crank pulley to bolt to, and that is the 91883. It will work with a 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0 and 6.2. Bob
