Got the front to bare metal finally. Will try to paint myself and see how it goes. If it turns out right I will attempt the rest. The weather hasn't been good enough on my shorter work days to do anything yet.

Question, is it ok to spray a self etching primer on a bar that only has about 40% bare metal then spray a sealer primer over it all.

If paint has hardener you can pretty much topcoat with whatever you want. If its not hardened ( rattle can ) then do a test spot in an inconspicuous place first and see if it wrinkles, this can take until dry to reveal so be patient. If it wrinkles its very easy to remove using lacquer thinners heavy soaked terry cloths and wipe very wet and as it curls wipe off and then start bare and clean. Sounds rough but this can be quite quick, its only messy is all. Some rattle can paints hold up very well to recoats, some dont. Luck of the draw

Got the front end sanded, prepped , and ready to paint. Shop was never meant to paint in so I have 18 sheets of 10x10ft pieces of plastic to cover stuff. Hopefully the weather will hold out.

No, taking it to Rick Trunkett in OHIO. He sells the Holley stuff so I will buy a complete dominator set up and let him do the other wiring during install. He can tune it and will teach you how to run everything plus does mobile tuning and trouble shooting if u buy from him.

Pics with the tape off. I blended it into two tubes that were left so I could practice so I can maybe just blend some of the bars on the inside. FIRST time ever painting so I am really happy with the results. Lists of metallic so I was really worried.

The flat black brackets will look good when they are all on..

Looks great, did you clear over it or go single stage? The spraymax activated clear in a can is crazy stuff if your looking for a suggestion.

2 stage. The clear is on thick. Never cleared before so it isnt as good as it could be. I made a demo *** mistake and dusted over some spots without letting it flash for 5min.
otherwise it would have bee ****.

Hard to tell its cleared because of the lighting.

Got the front cover on. This has been a bitch because I wanted to do it right but every freaking puller O ordered didnt work so I used a deep well socket and some threaded rod and made one. Putting it back on is ??? I have the ls specific bolt coming in another week so hope it works. It is on backorder.

Had to clearance the cover for the double roller timing chain.
I also got the bars I painted wet sanded and polished.

Finally got the front plate on. The water pump hole on the driver side weren't on the money so 2 holes strpped out when I tried to re-install it. Chase the threads and got a round file to get the holes right. Almost ready to re install motor and tranny. Still waiting on some polished parts but I am getting to the point of really moving forward.

Got the rear out to get coated and found one of the studs holding the center section in was stripped. I assume the guy who put in the center for me. I would say an impact was used a little too aggressively. Luckily they only got the nut on part of the way before the stud gave up. I was able to get some needle nose voice grips on the bolt good enough to get the nut off. Now I got the find someone to press in another stud. Rear definately needs a good powder coating.

Finally got my alternator bracket and exhaust housing back from polishing and coating. Hopefully, I can start putting back together soon. I am doing all the re-painting on the tubing, firewall and strut towers and rear tin under the car. I have never painted anything more than a few brackets so I am slow beyond the obvious sanding.

The rear, 4 link bars, wishbone and anti roll bar will be heading to powdercoating in a week or so when they catch up.
