Not sure what I am going to do with the motor/turbos for next year. I may just get some weight out of the car and see what more it'll do.

Sorry if you've already said, but do you think the turbos are basically done at this point?

BTW, I saw some video somewhere of your car making recent passes, and it sure is impressive!

I need to get some back pressure data. But going from 24psi to 26psi only made the IAT change about 5-10* but it only picked up about 2mph. IAT's were around 180* F at the stripe.

Cool, thanks!!

The Wallace calculator says that is about a 35hp difference from those 2psi. Extra temp gain doesn't sound horrible, right? Maybe they're not quite done..

Do you think you might get some back pressure data gathering before Milan closes?

I am done making passes for the year. My trans was not too happy about 1-2 shift all day Saturday. Don't want to risk tearing it up.

Those would seem to have a higher ceiling than the 6765 would just take more time to spool but seems maybe they'd make more steam up top than my turbo choice

This guy made some steam with the 67/65's on a 6.0L. The made pretty good power NA though.

Congrats! What changes were made to get it spooling so much better? Didn't you say the 72's were burning oil a bit now as well?

The Gt35 billet 64mm arrived... kinda. Received both exh. housings and one turbo. Still waiting on one. They look "good" but who knows. I did notice the surge ports don't go all the way through... Not sure if that's normal for this design or not. Exh. housings are tiny!

Who's GT35?

I'm gonna be testing the 6765s from VS here soon at the prices of these turbos seems like it's worth taking the shot I see a lot more happy people with these like turbos than unhappy

The drillings will only link to that little gap a few mm in from the actual inducer blades.

If they dont do that, then they are purely cosmetic.

I'd imagine most large engines using these dont even need or benefit from surge ports though

Those turbos do look pretty good! My 72s have had leaky compressors for a long time, and the smoke a ton on hot starts.

The biggest difference in the spool at the track was just being able to hook. Since I was able to leave around 4100rpm and 8.5psi they lit off fairly quick. It allowed the converter to flash over 5000 instantly and they spooled up much better.

This RPM and Boost over the run. You can see how soft that 1-2 shift was, and I went into 3rd pretty early because I couldn't tell if the trans actually grabbed 2nd or not.

Ahh yeah, I was considering switching to them. But now that I went 8s on the 72s I'm not sure what to do.

How are your drains setup again? I went with ¾” corrugated gas line. But the ID is only about ½”. I was wondering if the smoking issues could be drain related? I’ve always used ¾ ID on my recent turbo projects. I’m only swapping due to the oil leakage/smoke issues. Wondering if it’s causing issues with the WB02 readings/life as well.

I have -10AN lines off each turbo going to bungs in the oil pan. The bungs are pretty close to the pan rail, on each side of the pan.

Quick update on the 72/68’s I pulled. They are bone dry on the intake and exhaust sides. Makes me think the turbos weren’t leaking at all. Down pipes are clean, and charge pipes are clean. Making me wonder where the white smoke puffing out the pass side down pipe was coming from. Compression test is good. Waiting on a borescope to peek at the pistons.

On a side note, the new GT35 series turbos are so small I have to redo the drains and exhaust to make them fit.
