Build Thread '02 C5Z AA Supercharger & HPA / 629whp and 516tq
Final numbers
629whp and 516tq
424whp and 398tq baseline
+205whp +118tq
93 octane & no methonal
Bought her from the 2nd owner from Indianapolis back in March 2016 with a great stage 1 setup (headers/cam/intake/tune). Valve springs were addressed and taken care of by Mike Norris with dyno numbers and receipt from that build from Nov 2014, a healthy 420whp & 400wtq.
Stage 1 November 2014
I have been itching to start a build. I bought the C5Z as a present to myself just prior to turning 40 in 2016. But I want more Decided to upgrade to the AA V3 Si trim supercharger kit with twin disc clutch to put the power down.
The supercharger also helps stave off the temptation of selling her for a "faster/newer" ride ie C7 Z06 or Camaro ZL1. Or something over $100k like a 997.1 GT3.
Looking at other builds with similar mods, she should be making anywhere from 600+ whp when I see her next. Pound for pound I think a modified C5Z is really a great bargain. 700+ crank hp and only 3100 lbs should be plenty enough to hold my interest I hope.
Below was the car setup from previous owner:
Vararam intake w/cf duct
American Racing Headers 1 3/4" w/cats, 2.5"aft pipe
Borla Stingers
25% underdrive pulley and belt
GM LSX Crank Bolts
GM LS2 Timing Chain
Comp Cam 224/230/112
TFS 5/16 Moly Pushrods
BTR Springs
Custom Dyno Tune
C6 Shifter
HPA and AA have been more than helpful with all of my questions for this new build; the email thread is 56 emails deep. Here are the baselines dynos prior to the install/tuning of the build below. I cannot wait to pick her up. Mike Norris and HPA must have the same Dyno. Ran it twice and was pretty consistent today and similar to 3 yrs ago. Best hit was 424whp and 398 wtq. The only difference between the 2014 and past weekend were the shop and I swapping out the Borla Stingers for oem titanium. As you can see the oem titanium exhaust gained 4 whp and lost 2 wtq, a great trade off for killing that 70mph 6th gear drone!

Stage 2 under my ownership underway with AA Corvette and HPA in Delaware
AA V3 Si trim blacked out w/3.8 pulley
60# injectors
Kenne Belle BAP
Swap back to oem size balancer for proper boost
Oil change Amsoil Z-Rod 10w30
HPA dyno tuned on stock clutch
Mcleod RXT twin disk w/billet steel flywheel
Innovate digital gauge combo (boost/af)
SS Goodrich Brake lines and Motul 600 brake fluid
629whp and 516tq
424whp and 398tq baseline
+205whp +118tq

Happy Friday!

Pretty excited. A 2002 ls6 Z06 with under 40k miles...hoping for a lot of smiles and miles.
HPA will be posting dyno vid and dyno chart hopefully soon. Also noting the basleine dyno at HPA was nearly identical to the run at Mike Norris Motorsport 3 yrs ago.

Wanted to share my first impressions: def the fastest car I have ever driven. Prior was my friend's Nissan GTR with mild build to 650whp. While the GTR was def faster from a start, it makes speed easy and you almost don't know you are going fast. The GTR also loses it's grunt after 4th gear compared to gears 1-3.
The AA equipped C5Z drives like the car did prior to install and that isn't bad as it was already 420/400. But after 3k rpms the power comes on very linearly. So much so that if it wasn't for the epic noises coming from the bov and centrifugal supercharger, I would prob not know it had 200+whp added until you glance at the speedometer. It really is a smooth delivery of power. Keep in mind i did not launch it yet as I am still breaking in the RXT Clutch. I am sure if I did I could spin tires in 3rd.
If I had to sum it up, between the confluence of noises coming from engine, supercharger, bov, headers and exhaust...and the effortless manner in which it reaches crazy speeds even after 4th gear, it's like the car is being pushed by an invisible hurricane!

Thanks to the team @HorsePowerAddicts! This was my first Supercharger upgrade and really appreciate your attention to detail and on time work. For those looking for a shop on east coast I would highly recommend HPA. Couple things that convinced me:
1. Some other shops actually turned down the work. They preferred to work on c6+, Camaro5+. Maybe they were just backed up? But Josh@AA recommended me to Josh @ HPA.
2. Tax free horsepower. No Sales tax in Delaware
3. Reviews were 99% all positive on forums and Facebook. Finding great Tuner shops is like getting a haircut. not everyone is going to be happy 100% of the time. But the percentages were in my favor. And Josh at HPA answered a large amount of questions when we were going through the build
4. They didn't over sell me on the build. Often times I would be asking if i needed this or that. They easily could have taken my money but were upfront with what was necessary and what was optional
5. I dropped off the car Sat and picked her up the next sat. easy peasy.
And another thank you to Josh at AACorvette. The kit seems very well thought out and oem quality. They also answered a mountain of questions prior my decision without any fuss.
so including the car and all parts, I am under $30k for 740 crank horsepower corvette with under 40k miles
