Default Pin Crank? 416 LS3 w/ ATI Damper

Running a 416 LS3 using a Callies Compstar CPI-APO31N-CS58 crankshaft along with ATI TBSS Damper ATI-917286. Looking to add on LSA supercharger in near future but curious whether I need to pin the crank or not.

If so, any specific kit recommended or would this one even work?

Thanks

Absolutely pin the crank. It’s easy to do an peace of mind that your not going to destroy your new dampener or crank. That kit looks your basic install. A angle drill helps out if your doing this with the motor in. Also use a better grade drill bit than what is in the kit. Take your time, tape your drill bit for depth, use cutting fluid.

100% pin the crank on a supercharger.

As Steve said, do it anyway. Mine is turbo but for peace of mind i did it while fitting my ATI crank, took me about 20 minutes.

Are you sure there is no key on the crank/ati hub? My current Callies/ATI was already keyed and I did not have to pin it. I have the LSA kit from ADM (self installed in 2014). My current engine is stroked/416 with the LSA kit.

I'm curious about this also. I pinned my stock crank. The balancer had a keyway and it was my understanding that it was for aftermarket forged cranks that already have a key.

Correct. The keyway is used for aftermarket cranks that had it. The ATI dampener has a keyway but on stock cranks you have to pin it.

That is what I was informed by brutespeed after there was questions on my pinning vs using the keyway.

Def. pin it-I like the kit shown, I have used a diff. kit and when removed I could see that the bal. wanted to turn, and had dug into the keyway on the balancer-if you pin it and have to rem the balancer, you can use something longer than the pin and line it back up.

I pinned my stock crank/damper. When I went forged aftermarket, we used the key as the crank and ati hub were setup for it.

IF no key, I agree, pin it...

ATI has a kit for their damper...
