New PB 6.0 fox cast 475 "update now CRT 80 new best"

Holy sorry for the huge photos. Haven't ever posted about my set up on here but have had the car finished for a little over a year now and starting to get it sorted out. It's a stock piston, rod, crank 6.0, with a set of ported 317's that we did, bullet cam, with a single plane victor intake and wilson elbow with the stock truck throttle body. It has a 1.80 low gear glide and a PTC billet 9.5. Injection is being handled by a Holley HP and has 120lb injectors that are now about at there limit. The turbo is just your regular cheapy box cast Borg s475. Run the car on E85 with a W/A intercooler and weighs in at 3180 with me in it. I've been struggling to get the car to run the first 100' all season but we are finally starting to get a decent handle on it. I think it still has about a tenth left for sure in the combination and another .03-.04 in 60' on a good track if I get a little more aggressive. Been having a blast and hoping to get a good forged engine done for it this winter and send the turbo in for some work. Shooting for 5.20's with any luck next season. But can't complain about a 5.59 and a 1.24 60'.

very nice looking car and that's a good run i run a very simular setup how much boost we're you running on that pass and what rear gear do you run?

rryan5429 08-21-2018 11:45 AM

Thank you. Peak boost was 17.2 average for the run was about 15.3. I run pretty much just 1/8 mile stuff with it and I run a 4.10 rear. When I get the new combination done I’ll change that down into the 3.50 range. But it works well for now so I’ll just leave it alone.

very cool... good luck with it!

That 60' is great! I wouldn't be afraid to turn the boost up if it's a gen4 6.0. It should take all that turbo can throw at it... esp. only running the 1/8th. good luck!

Thanks guys. It is a gen4. The chassis is very good. I bought it as a bare roller a couple years ago. With a mod motor and an 80 it went a 1.16 60' so I know the car works. I've been slowly throwing more gate pressure at it but it's starting to level off it might have a little more left in it. Hopefully we'll get one more crack at it here this season to try.

so you think your outta turbo where your at now?

rryan5429 08-23-2018 04:50 PM

Kind of thinking I'm getting pretty close. I think it has a little more left in it. But not much. Maybe I'm wrong. If we can make it out one more time this season we'll throw a pile more at it in high gear and see what it does.

Stock48 went 127 on a similar combo that was a little heavier. Was using the t4 smaller exh wheel cast s475 too. Shud have a bit more....

It's gone 125.50 in a little better air but the track wasn't as good. but like I said ive been adding gate pressure to it and it's not really picking anything up anymore. Not saying there maybe isn't another lbs or so left in it. So I'd think it's pretty much done. I think it had a high 40 or or 50 flat in it if I'd have been a little more aggressive but that's about it I think

Rick

Don't remember the offset off hand but it's a 15x10 Weld V series with double beadlock and a 275 pro radial.

Impressive on that amount of boost, good job.

With a good flowing top end, it looks like a trend for that turbo to be about done near 17lbs. They flow so well NA the turbos out of steam around there. Curious if you get more out of it with the less restrictive IC than most use. Bet that combo would put down some healthy NA numbers as well! What all did you do to the heads?

this seems about right i run the same turbo and it'll make 17lbs but falls to 13 by the end of the run I've been trying to figure out why but now im wondering if im just out of turbo

rryan5429 08-31-2018 08:46 AM

I was running into the same issue of the boost falling off like that. I've gotten it to the point I'm only losing about 1psi from peak to finish line. But I've had to add a lot of gate pressure to get it there. As for the cylinder heads. My father and I until the last couple years have spent all of our time in the NHRA stock and Super stock world where things are very rules restrictive and dad has been building engines for 45 years now and does all of our own cylinder head work. They aren't crazy by any stretch of the imagination. For fun we took the opportunity to somewhat treat them like our super stock heads. They do have relatively small runners both intake and exhaust just spent a lot of time working on shape. Was just something we thought would be a fun experiment. But they did flow very well on the bench and seem to work pretty well. Would love to redo the turbo over the winter just afraid then I'll really be pushing the limits of the rotating assembly and don't want to kill the engine unnecessarily.

Any under hood shots?

rryan5429 12-14-2018 11:01 AM

Sorry thought I'd posted this but apparently not. Did just pick up a CRT billet S480 for it about a month ago. So should be able to push it a little further next season.

Where’d you get the sock over the downpipe? Nice clean look.

Can I ask what size exhaust housing was on the 475 thanks
