S366 ebay clone - anyone run this specific one?

Anyone run this "John Deere" S366 off ebay before? Looking to pick some up and test on a 5.3. Hunted around the forced induction forum but wasn't able to find any info on this one in particular.

Notice how none of the images have a clear shot of the exhaust wheel... It's because it looks like a clipped ceiling fan instead of a turbine wheel... That said, it's the same one everyone sells, I'm sure it's "ok".

Good catch. Do you think that style turbine will have a large effect on peak power? Just looking for the best bang for buck combo for a 5.3 with a little room to grow. 800+whp. Going to be running an auto so not too worried about spool.

I am pretty sure that turbine is going to choke and back up before 800whp......

I’d say the best bang for your buck would be a legit s366. Seems there’s been quite a few guys that run the “ceiling fan” style turbine that Forcefed86 mentioned and end up having issues making power, spoiling, boost or backpressure issues etc. I’d skip it IMO and go with what’s proven.

Why waste $215 on that, it not work for what you wanting to do when you could have just bought this from the get go?

we all know this turbo works well.

I probably should have specified I am planning to run twins - sorry about that lol. 73mm of turbine x2 shouldn't back up prior to 800whp, unless those turbines are really that bad? :(

gotcha - thank makes sense. i'll probably look into a pair of the real deal or at VS racings 66/73s. Does anyone know if the VS racing 66/73 or 69/73 have this same turbine?

Just thought I'd get some opinions - turbos these days you really never know when one of the eBay units might actually be good for the money. I've looked up and down at the VS racing turbo line so I know it well. The 7875 cast wouldn't make my goal, and unlikely the billet would either. I used to run an ON3 7875 (same thing, pretty much) so I get what you're saying though. Good turbo for the money. I just think two would be too much on a 5.3 and one won't make 800+.

fair enough. Check out the on3 7678 billet bmf. It’s rated to 1250hp. Just an idea

lol at the ebay listing title "7 Blaeds US"

With the insane luck I've had with Ebay turbos, I'm half tempted to buy a pair of these.

They're roughly the same price as V band outlet GT35 clones but will easily make more power.

2005vetteTT 12-05-2018 06:51 AM

nice, haven't seen those yet. definitely keep them in mind, the BMF looks like a solid turbo for the size.

After a little more digging, I found this picture on the VS racing facebook on their 6673/6973 and it seems to be a similar turbine. They've changed their compressor housing since but the internals are the same. I'm tempted to try these now then since people are making good power out of the VS units.

Why not the VSRacing billet 3582 clones or their 366 clones?
And yes, MUCH better as twins!!!

Forcefed86 12-05-2018 01:33 PM

I don't know any personally, but I've seen several impressive time slips from the VSracing line of S300 chargers. Might just call up Viren at VSR and discuss it with him. Super cool guy. I believe he would honestly tell you if he had any negative feedback. I don't believe the chargers you posted a link to are any different than his or any other cast china S366... Usually all out of the same plant.

stevieturbo 12-05-2018 04:15 PM

How on earth do they get away with that on ebay ?

Not only fraudulently using BW naming and numbers....but then using John Deere too !!

JoeNova 12-05-2018 07:27 PM

They don't list it as a BW or JD turbo, only as a replacement for them.

MY_2K_Z 12-05-2018 08:28 PM

The picture of the turbo has John Deere cast into the housing

2005vetteTT 12-14-2018 03:29 PM

Looking at my setup, I don't have room for this else I was going to give them a shot. My newest idea is to run these GTX3582R's - some Honda guys are running them making 700+whp.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/GTX3582R-Dual-Ball-bearing-Turbo-GTX35R-82-V-Band-Turbo-Anti-Surge-Billet-Wheel/123511284335?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid =p2060353.m2763.l2649

Would two of these on a 5.3 be better than lets say a VS racing 80 or 88 for spool/overall power? The plan will be a 370-408 later on once the 5.3 lets go.

Got me in tears with this one. ROFL!!

Forcefed86 12-14-2018 04:49 PM

No, those are small t3 housing 62/62's and the ball bearing thing is a gimmick. U can get the cast journal bearing gt3582s for 160$ shipped.

Call up vs racing and grab the 61/65s in a small t4. Or the 67/65s or 70/65s if u want more than 1000ish crank.
