Default Twin turbo under hood heat reduction

Ive got a 78 corvette with twin turbos, using the stainless steel works up and forward headers, made from 304 ss with a lsx 376, have done some search's on here about wraps etc, and there seems to be alot againest wrapping headers, does that include wrapping 304 ss headers? is it ok to wrap down pipe etc?
or is it better to put holes in hood and metel sheet shielding to gude the heat up out of hood, what peoples thoughts on best ways to reduce under hood temps?

Wrap it and vent the hood both.

Venting the hood is going to be best. Wrappings/coatings will reduce the heat, but it will still build up under the hood if there isn't a way for it to vent out.

ok thats what i was thinking regarding hood vents, easy done
interms of wrapping, iam lead to believe that wrapping headers is not good in any shape or form? thoughts?
or another idea was to use metal heat proof stuff to guide the heat up to hood vents?

Awesome looking setup! I'd get some turbine blankets and go ahead and wrap the downpipes as they run close to your brake lines/booster. Vent the hood if you can.
You could also wrap the rest of the hot pipes if you want. There's going to be a lot of heat under that hood. Also, I like to use the MSD heat tubing on the plug wires and socks under the headers. Overtimes they'll become frail and brittle.

I use trackspec vents on my camaro. They pull the heat out from under the hood really well. Best pic i had on my phone.

thanks, yeah was defo getting with turbo blankets and thought it wouldnt be so bad to wrap downpipes, there not going to get as hot as the headers, therefore less chance of metel going brittle etc, and yeah planning to do hood vents, thought of using a metal sheet shield around headers to guide hot air to vents, ive just got some spark plug wires from firecore50, with there heat resistance stuff on them

Great looking setup. I ceramic coated my manifolds and ex housings on the turbos. Helped a bunch. I coated my midpipes (back of turbo to exhaust) this year so that should help more. Goal is to keep it as stock looking as possible so no hood vents for me. But that would help a ton.

ive heard of guys pulling the inner fenders out too. To help with heat but on your setup dont know if that would help

Id wrap all the hotside/exhaust and install turbo blankets. Not sure why anyone would be against the idea unless they just didnt like the looks.

Everytime I've had my exhaust crack on me, its been at the edge of the exhaust wrap.
Downpipes are a much safer bet.

Thanks Guys for input, everything ive read on here and search's on web, say wrapping headers is bad news, metal goes brittle and cracks

so its easy enough to shield headers and guide hot air to vents and wrap the rest

cheers

Just coat the crap of it all then. If you're worried about wrapping the metal then do something else that's still very effective.
