Need inputs on Hawks Motorsports Magnacharger kit

I always wanted a Magnacharger back when they first came out, but had always heard that it won't fit. I was just recently told about the kit that Hawks Motorsports sells, which looks pretty good. Hawks said that they hope to have an option for the TVS-2650 soon.

So, I am looking for your experience with this kit:
- How is the fit?
- Were there any issues with installation?
- What motor?
- What cam?
- Pictures would be great!

is this what you are asking about, https://www.hawksmotorsports.com/98-...nacharger-kit/
you have to pull the motor, replace the motor mounts, cut out the cowl under the passenger side windshield wiper, remove the windshield wiper motor, replace with custom windshield wiper motor, weld in a frame, paint … I've thought about it... jury is still out

That is the one. Those are the reasons that I started this thread. I hope to get opinions on the installation and fitment. Not to mention, that a bigger blower might be an option soon.

If the motor is dropped and cowl work done ahead of time, can tbe blower be installed without dropping the motor?

it looks like a tight fit even with the modifications. i'd be interested in finding out myself. I think it would just be easier having it all done at the same time

Sub'd!

Its always been an interesting route but most guys go procharger because its cheaper and you have a greater power making potential. With that said a maggy has always intrigued me but with little info out there and the amount of work it takes to make fit along with the high price tag I've never come close to pulling the trigger. Sub'd to watch this thread though and see if anyone with first hand info chimes in..

I like the TVS because it keeps the engine Bay looking stock, keeps intake air out of the engine bay, and eliminates any possibility of water getting in from puddles (granted it is minimal the Procharger). If the 2650 becomes an option, that is damn near the C7 ZR1 SC size.

Another big plus is that there is no change to airflow for the radiator and AC condenser. Those are big considerations for a car that will be driven every day in Phoenix.

it would be easier, but my buddy is going to be welding the roll bar and mini-tub in this year. He told me that he will show me how to drop the motor, so I know how, and I can make some grounding upgrades (might as well do spark plugs and wires). The cowl mods could be done then. I will also be upgrading the fuel system for flex-fuel at that time.

When I can get the kit, maybe I just have to use a cherry picker to lift the car a foot or so to get the SC installed.

This is really cool.

exactly what I though when I was told that the kit existed. I have always thought the the TVS blowers looked great on GTOs, TBSSs, and Vettes.

The 2300 would be like putting my wife's Kia motor on top of my Trans Am.

Havent been on Hawks website in awhile, they don't even offer the MP112 kit which was kind of pointless. At least the TVS isn't as power limited..

:chuck-bal I ordered the set up 2 months ago and still have not received mine ...... Been told it was on its way multiple times. Getting real close to cancelling my order and getting a refund.

Cool kit for sure, I have never had any good luck with the company though.

Do that, then get in on the Huron speed group buy.

Another caveat for the OP, hawks reputation has gone to shit in the last few years so this isn't surprising..

Hawks had a major fire recently too

FCar2000TA 02-02-2019 05:43 PM

Can a cathedral port Magnacharger be converted to LS3 or LS7 port, or does it require a new supercharger? I have found a few places that have "Magnuson Lower Intake" for sale. It looks like replacing that would convert the blower to LS3 or LS7 intake configuration.
