Here last week it was a fairly cool night, about 10-12 degrees. Hopped in the Camaro to go get some food, had no intentions on hotfooting the car..... was just driving the car to keep everything in good shape. As I was driving, I noticed that it was loud... hit the cutout button to make sure it was closed....no difference. Come to find out, the passenger side manifold was the culprit, pulled it off tonight...in two pieces, only two things holding it in place was the v band and wrap, it was broke off clean all the way around. As I was working I thought, sure is a lot of string hanging around the motor mount. Well, that's because the exhaust was being aimed at the mount when the weld on the manifold broke....frying it. With all that said, I'm going to shout out master torpedo heater, i've got the 135k BTU unit, and it took my uninsulated 24x30 garage from 5 degrees, to tee shirt and shorts temperature in 1 hour.
Too bad i'm not closer, i'd weld it for you. I'm not the best, but i'm getting better and my **** holds.
Thanks man. Going to mock it up tonight, top part back on the head, and v band the bottom end back together and mark it as best I can so that it fits like it should when I get it re welded tomorrow. That's the part that scares me..... it not fitting right after the weld.
had the same exact thing happen to me a few years ago. Don't let anyone weld it unless they are forsure going to backpurge it. If fitment scares you, you could always add in a flex coupler in the crossover (Not the bellowed kind) to give you a little wiggle room.

Going to go to a local speed shop (dynosty) here in a bit, will have them do as you mentioned, providing they aren't retarded expensive (and can get it done today). In general they are a very expensive shop.

I MIGHT make one more hit when the track opens, while the air is still good just to see if I can get a single digit slip, if it will do it, I probably won't ever track the car again.
Finally got around to taking it to get welded. Was told it would be $250 , promptly replied "nah, I'm good.... thanks". Call me cheap, but imo that's retarded high. So the search for a reasonable quote continues.
Dude for that price you could spend a little more and buy your own damn mig welder and learn to weld. I don’t like relying on other people anyways. So you know what I’d do......

I can dig what you're saying, and I agree wholeheartedly. I also hate farming stuff out, which is why I do everything in house, motor/transmission and whatever else mechanical. Only issue I have with buying a welder is, I can count on one finger the last time I've needed one in the past 10 years. If I was always changing cars, and doing a lot of fab work, then I would. But as it is right now, I just can't justify the cost.
