Default Anyone tried Thompson Motorsports Whipple kit on 4th Gen F-Body?

Anyone know if this will fit an LS1 F-Body with the cowl notched like the Hawks Kit has?

Get the new Harrop 2650 SC'er.......it will fit and it will also make a LOT more power than the 2.9 Whipple can make. Whipples, for their size, make less power than all other roots type SC'ers. Whipple 2.9's are bigger than Maggy 2.3's......and cannot make as much power as the 2.3's.

Hawks said that they hope to have a Harrop 2650 option soon. I am just trying to get all of the info that I can.

I would do your own research. There is a reason the COPO Camaro, dodge hellcat, and demon all use a twin screw instead of a roots type SC.

Hawks needs to make their cowl mod kit to clear an extra 9mm more height.....then the Harrop 2650 will clear the cowl. The kit they have now will only clear the Maggy 2.3.

A guy in West Palm just made 804 RWHP with the Harrop on a stock bottom end LS with no other mods or upgrades......with only 14psi.

Also, a company in Tampa made 1,150 on an LS 416ci with an engine dyno last month on 17psi with throttle body tuning issues. They are waiting for the 115mm TB to try again.

They will be making well over 1,000 RWHP everywhere soon.....

I want 500 RWHP from my stock LS1, AC friendly am, and E54. If I get closer to 550, I will be even happier.

Than get the cheaper Maggy 2.3 set up........Harrop is HUGE overkill for just 500-550 RWHP. Hell, you can get 500 RWHP with a good H/C/I kit, it'll just be a lopey idle.

550 is just what I would be happy with right now. Room to grow is better.

Does the 2650 work with cathedral port heads? I thought that I read somewhere that it is only for LS3/7 and DI-LT heads.

The Harrop 2650 sucks so far and no reason to get a 2650 anything in the future unless you are trying to max out the blower at 1000+ rwhp and then I would argue you should be doing a centri style blower anyways. Just get the maggie TVS 2300 and be done with it as it fits your goals with plenty of room to grow.

The 2300 is a solid little blower, have a customer that makes 800rwhp on e85 with the 6-rib belt still!

Ryan at Hawks Motorsports is at 850 RWHP......I think its a 408ci LS.......maybe he can send you more info or a dyno sheet.

BTW....anyone interested in the Whipple 2.9

Its exactly 270mm from the top of the LS block (not the valley cover) to the top of the SCer case. So it will fit under the factory Trans Am hood (not sure about Camaro) and you can keep your windshield wipers. The Hawks cowl mod kit is a great place to start, then you can also mod that kit to get an additional 9mm of clearance. But they won't sell it separately.

BUT..........the much much more powerful Harrop 2650 is only 262.6mm.....so it fits better...........NO BRAINER choice.

Yea....lets all listen to this garbage.

Harrop can be a 550 RWHP daily driver or a 1,000+ RWHP monster. Who wants to totally max out a Maggy with a $15,000 fully built engine all every supporting mod possible.....just to make 800+. AND......for basically the same price to buy either set up......

800 RWHP daily driven Harrop 2650.....running 9's.

And why would you say the Harrop 2650 "sucks"......Its made 1,150 FWHP on 15psi, 820 RWHP on 14psi and 804 RWHP on 15psi....just to name a few....with small lower pulleys. Nobody has maxed it out yet.

Go to Aussie.....there's hundreds of them doing the same. I'm here in New Zealand right now......there's a bunch here too. Saw one last week that made 800 RWHP in a little Commodore truck.....badass.

Because the plenum is too small and coolers are subpar and the two that have been tested here in the US barely made more than a maggie 2300. The rotor pack itself is great, the packaging from harrop is not. I don't need to go overseas to know how they perform because some people have them here. There is a reason magnusson hasn't released their 2650 rotor pack blower yet, maybe you can figure out why. Anybody who spends $8500 on a harrop 2650 is going to learn a hard lesson, they should have just waited for a better version of a 2650 rotor pack blower. Don't go quoting dyno numbers either because 800 rwhp at 15 psi is not impressive.
