Why isn't a Boost-A-Pump or MSD more popular here?

I never see too many here at LS1Tech FI using the KB BAP much.

Any reason?
Having good results with it and a Racetronix setup.

Maybe 650rwhp with this setup?

F8L Z71 Aug 8, 2004 07:34 PM

Not sure, I know a lot of Mustang guys use it and there are some LS1 Vette guys that us it also. I planned on looking into it when I do my Racetronix pump in my truck. If anything it will limit the likelyhood of dropping voltage when under WOT with music turned up. LOL

I had one but went with two pumps eventually. It did work well tho

Looks like my 42# SVO's could support up to 675rwhp with this setup.

Thunder Racing and A&A sell many MSD and KB BAPs.
Only a small percentage of HP car owners are active and / or post on the forums.

What do you suppose a single intank walbro, stock fuel lines/rails, BAP and 42lb injectors will support?

The pump system with a FM FPR will support upwards of 700RWHP.
Injectors .... that depends on the motor BSFC and max RPM.

MelloYellow Aug 9, 2004 11:05 PM

What is a safe real world BSFC estimate for a SC Motor?

Is lower or higher BSFC better?
Which uses more again? Say .55 vs. .65 BSFC?

Thx.

F8L Z71 Aug 9, 2004 11:35 PM

Higher BSFC will mean bigger injector for a given HP #.

I think people usually use .55 for FI but some people may vary that a bit. i guess depending on how much of a cushion you want, but you could try to do that with duty cycle also. I'm not a injector guru so maybe someone else could tell ya more or correct me :)

I ussually have problems with 42's after 550rwhp on FI cars.

We run the Kenne Bell boost a pump on 2 cars with great results.

MelloYellow Aug 11, 2004 03:53 PM

Ran out of injector with the 42# SVO's today around 575rwhp @ 5500.

Swapping out to 60# Mototrons.

Racetronix + BAP still holding good so far.

Are those 60's flow-matched?

Don't think my set were flow matched.
Shipped overnight AM deliv from A&A.

Would be nice if more vendors carried the 60#'s Flow Matched.
;)

Am a little wary of some injectors. Had some headaches with Delphi 50# tuning once. The 42# SVO's and Mototron 60#'s are supposed to be ez to tune, especially at idle and part throttle.

Racetronix Siemens 57's are easy to tune and come flow-matched.
There are the same injectors used in ARE / Wade's 8s C5 a while back using the factory PCM. A very popular injector.

What is the Racetronix Single Pump Flow Rating again? (for running calculations).

How would the flow numbers look with the BAP running?

Thanks!

The pump spec is quoted in our ad:
http://www.racetronix.com/RX-F99-FPKG-2.html

Depending on the BAP voltage you can add 20-25% to the rating.
Keep in mind this is on a test fixture and does not factor in the car's plumbing restrictions. This is why we quote apx. HP support #'s.

Is the PnP deal available yet?

The ad says "MSRP" is around $280. So does this suggest it can be had for less $$$ ? If so, who carries your product?

Is your pump just an anodized Walbro or is it actually a different (read: better) pump?

Thanks!

As the ad states it is a custom setup.
A sale price of $249.99 is in place for 30 days.
The systems started shipping July 31/04.
More Performance and Thunder Racing should have them in stock any day now.

Mello . . . so you're saying you ran out of pump @ 575 WITH or WITHOUT the BAP? If with, then you only gained 25rwhp by using it??
