Default Anyone try Snow’s NitroBooster, chemical supercharging 50+ HP

Thoughts?

From the website

http://www.snowperformance.net/prodd...p?prod=Auto120

Have you ever had a big race and wanted just 50 more HP? Now you can with NitroBooster – “ chemical supercharging”. NitroBooster is designed to safely increase the horsepower of your Boost Cooler by 30-50HP. It contains just the right amount of nitro methane to increase HP while not creating a lean condition. Benefits include:
1. Safely gives you an instant 30-50 HP.
2. Boosts octane characteristics.
3. Lowers engine combustion temps.

NitroBooster FAQ

1. Why nitro methane? Nitro methane donates oxygen as it is combusted – think of it as “ chemical supercharging”. It has excellent burn characteristics in that it acts as an octane enhancer with most fuels.
2. Why not just add to the fuel tank? Nitro methane is corrosive and needs system parts made from stainless steel, viton etc. adding to a fuel system made out of steel, rubber etc will corrode these parts.
3. Will it mix with water? Methanol? NitroBooster is made to mix well and stay in suspension with water and methanol.
4. What power increase can I expect? A 30-50 HP increase has been consistently demonstrated when used as directed.
5. Is it safe for my engine? NitroBooster is safe when used as directed. Of course, if the amount is increased by putting more than 8 oz per 2-qt reservoir, a lean condition will result. NitroBooster increases the octane of fuel and will reduce the chance of detonation but will cause a lean condition if you use more than directed.

sounds real interesting. im assuming it requires a seperate holding tank. i'd like to know how its "injected" into the engine.
is this different then alky/methenol injection their using on the turbo cars?

seems to me that adding an extra 50 hp would cause a very lean condition...without adding any extra fuel.

sounds like it is mixed in with your alky/water mix, and when injected burns much better. so i think this is like a booster for a alky injection kit. sounds cool

We are testing nitromethane from VP racing in our LT1 car. I will post the results. The snow kit will work with it, which is nice, since Nitro is very corrosive.

No, RC nitro fuel has alot of other chemicals mixed in with the nitro. When we first started the idea of doing this, we first thought....RC fuel...lol.

but nitro in its self is a fuel not catalyst..

Nitro contains its own O2, so you will have to add fuel to compensate for the O2 released by the Nitro upon combustion.

wouldnt the alky compensate for tht? btw thats jus weird but it explains why nitro doesnt need that much air to burn.

Now if you could only get our cars to sound like a Top Fuel dragster/Funny Car on nitromethane!

that is not really true. Nitro is a true FUEL unlike nitrous oxide . Engines can run on almost pure nitro as we all know.
It's close to a mono propellant(rocket fuel). A-F ratios of around 2-1 can be used I believe. So you can practically pour the stuff in. The more you add the more power you make until it blows up.
I have thought about trying it in my old alky systems many times for a little extra kick.It would be so easy to add.
RC fuel is just methanol, either castor or synthetic oil and nitro methane in various %. It could be used but the oil in it might mess with the plugs.
I always came to the conclusion nitrous oxide is a much better and safer route for a "little more power" than messing with nitro.
But I am curious to hear your results with it.
Steve
