New personal best with MT DR's

Took the street car(CE) out again and the new setup is working out real well. Went to the track last week with the new MT 325/50 Drag radials and ran a new best for the setup and my personal best.
1.44 -60'
6.20 -1/8
113 -mph
9.64 -1/4
143 -mph

Needless to say I'm very happy with the MT radials. :) Can't wait to get back to the track and turn it up. This is still on a VERY consertive tune with a VERY loose converter. By the way raceweight is around 3900 lbs. with full stock interior and exhaust. Next time out I think I'll be needing a chute.

you are the man, is it on pump gas or race stuff. either way that is awesome, your going to have to pull some weight off of that thing. lighten her up and see what happens

very nice, your getting that thing dialed in well.

how much boost did you run on that pass?

NA$TY-TA Jun 24, 2005 07:45 AM

Thats Awsome...... how hard was it to get the 4L80E to fit in the car?? How much HP has Rossler rated it at?? That tranny makes it streetable and i bet a blast to drive everyday. I really should of looked into going with it.
That was the shakedown pass huh.... when ya going back with it turned up??

Awesome!! :)

PurEvl Jun 24, 2005 07:54 AM

are the mts say like a nitto dr? YOU can drive them on the street all the time? Awesome times!!!

ty_ty13 Jun 24, 2005 08:09 AM

the MT drag radials are nothing like a nitto.... MT Dr's drive like shit in any kind of moisture... they dont get many miles either...

MT DR=horrible street tire...

thats my opinion..

MstgKillr Jun 24, 2005 09:32 AM

I would like to know about the 4L80E swap.

He had it out at norwalk in the spring, cant remember the times then i didnt see all of them, but one i think was like 10.12@136 or something around there.

Congrats Mike. They are fun tires on the track and on the street. :) Nice 60' too.

Are you dropping them below 13.5psi at this point?

very very nice run

as for M/T not being a good street tire, guess you just arent man enough to run et drags on the street :P IMO, they are great as a street tire. not a high milage daily driver tire thogh.

eviltwins Jun 24, 2005 11:47 AM

I get better mileage and rain driving out of MT's than I do BFG's. They arn't as bad as you would think.

2001-WS6 Jun 24, 2005 12:40 PM

I would agree that the MTs have been better all the way around than the BFGs for me. Mileage ware and general rain travel are better so far but I haven't crossed the 1000 mile mark yet.

I think where a lot of guys are struggling is the MTs don't need quite as long a burnout as the BFGs and Nittos do. So they leave more tire on the pad then they need too at this point. I've stretched some burnouts that did nothing to make the tire stickier but they did end up pumping up the hot PSI above what I wanted. :D

The tires are 20 passes in without what we think the max effort 60 is yet but they are fun tires with a 1.55s. :)

damn would I have to run you in extreme mod in bowling green? That sucka's fast and its a street car!

got any recent pics?

cablebandit Jun 24, 2005 03:19 PM

Awesome Mike!!!! I like the DRs on my turd too!! You gotta be psyched to run those numbers right out of the gate. If you have to, let Steve drive...we know he aint skurred!!!!! ;)

That's funny. The car is actually boring right now. Just put the pedal to the floor and let go of the button.

I run Sunoco 104 and spray Meth. which is overkill for the tune. Boost was around 20psi peak. Tires were at 14psi cold. Will be taking them down next time out.
The 4L80E swap was easy. Just had to modify my BMR TH400 crossmember and notch some of the tunnel brace for the big plug on the side to have clearance. BigStuff3 controls it. I had Rossler build it to handle what ever I could throw at it. It has all the goodies inside. :)

My turbo is to big for the extreme mod class. :eyes:

Plan is to have both cars out the 30th for some local fun. Plan on launching harder, more boost, more timing, and less fuel. Should be fun. But the converter is way to loose so more power might not work out. I need to find the time to get it sent out. :bang: Wont bring the CE to Milan on the 1st though.

On a side note the day after I made this pass I drove the car over an hour one way to a cruise-in then drove home.
