"New to turbo's" install question I have a 97' Trans Am that I am going to be converting to a 6.0 L Iron Blocked LQ4 engine. I want to setup a Twin Turbo'ed FMIC setup but want to retain AC, Power Steering and use it as a street/strip car. My HP Goals are 800+ HP, TQ. What type of engine management or computer would I have to use to have it tweaked out to use this type of setup? Would the stock ODBII computer work? If so, would I have to convert to a different "knock module" or do the LSx based computers not use knock modules? Also, Where do you mount the MAF sensor? Before the intercooler, after it? Thanks alot for answering my newbie questions. ~Sam |
You'll need to switch to an LS1 PCM and harness. The recomendation there would be do use a 99+ as HP Tuners allows for the 2 BAR speed density tune, and version 2 should have a 3 BAR setup (last I heard). Yes, knock sensors are in the LSX motors and you'd have to run the specifics of that motor. MAF can either be draw through or blow through, doesn't really matter where you put it, though some places are better than others, and I'm sure someone with more knowledge can explain it better than that. |
