Default Is keying the crank nessasary?

Is this somthing perrty common to do when you start to get in the higher boost say 10-12 #'s? Is it somthing I should look into doing?

My crank is keyed.

I would for 10+ psi IMHO.

7psi and up I would do it, cheap insurance.

A pin kit will work if your motor is in the car and runnig if you are doing a rebuild Key it etc... If not you can pin it and it worked fine for me until I did the rebuild etc...

Is that a mod on a already installed 7 psi system that involves purchasing a "pin kit" or what? Thanks

ATI sells a pin kit and that is what I bought. It's kinda pricey, but the one that comes with the Magnacharger kits for the vetts won't work for the Vortech pulley (ATI Pulley) I don't know about the Pro charger kits pulley. I borrowed the one for the Magnacharger from MTI and it wouldn't work as the pulley apparently has a larger opening on the stock vette pulley than the one that comes with the Vortech kit. So just so you know there are two different Pin kits available and it just depends on what your pulley looks like as to witch one will work for you etc... Hope I helped you understand and didn't confuse you to much.

My balancer spun and chewed up the crank snout when I had the stock Vortech kit. It was properly torqued and loctited. Pin it or key it.
