Alcohol pro's con's?????

What's up? I don't know if this question is in the :wrongforu . If so, sorry...but is alcohol injection only for turbo and supercharged engines? Are there any neg's doing that to a non-turbo/non-supercharged LS1 engine?Wondering...

it would help some if you upped the timing alot, but its really not cost effective if your not running a power adder

How much is some? IYO is it not worth it?

dont know maybe 10hp?

If you just switched your motor to alcohol, you would have to change a lot of stuff, since you need a lot more alcohol volume to build the same power as gas. You would need different injectors and other fuel system changes. Alcohol is also very corrosive and would mess up your factory fuel system pretty quickly.

The way you could build high power with your motor and alcohol would be to build it as like a 13:1 compression motor with a fatter cam. Otherwise, skip it.

the topic creator is talking about alcohol injection, not running E85. From what I understand, alcohol is used to cool the intake charge, which allows more timing, and denser air on a FI setup. I really don't think NA would net any worthwhile gains.

Good point. :bang:

In that case, it'd just make you run rich with NA.

Wel a MAF translator has an AUX function that can be set to lean it out when the injection system is on... I AM talking about a supplimental auxilary control in this instance...

For the E85

What you guys really need is someone to hack the FFV truck ECU's and integrate the FFV math into LS1 edit then use their pump, filter, regulator.... etc...

A thinner HG to increase compression... 11:1 and up to 12 or so is probably a good bet naturally aspirated..
