Isn't there a way to up the pressure?

The max pressure I've heard people running is about 15#. In my gsx I was running 23#. I would think with the money spent in rebuilding these engines someone on here has upped the pressure more? Is it just not possible with this big of a motor?

im sure people are thinking of it.. but the heads are limiting the power that can be made, so turning up the boost would just break more stuff.. look at it like this..
4cyl with 30psi boost has to withstand 400hp
8cyl with 5psi boost has to withstand 400hp
8cyl with 30 psi boost would make great power.. but just wont hold together... yet... <img src="images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">

I see what you mean, but what exactly is it that breaks? Why not make this part stronger...or flow differently?

Why is everyone always hung up on how much boost they can run? Why not just ask yourself how much hp you want and go from there.

hmmmm...it seems these would go hand in hand. I was just speaking from a hypothetical standpoint with my opening post. It just seems like there would be a way to make whatever is weak stronger.

They do go hand in hand when your compairing the same engine/turbo setup. Boost numbers don't mean squat between different types of cars/engines.

V8 engines can be built to withstand over 70 psi and produce over 8000hp for quarter ET's in the 4s, as they are in many top fuel dragsters. The info is easy to find. As far as street appications go, in particular the LS1, MightyMouse here has run the same 23psi on his turbo firebird as you, Jacobi, did on your gsx. The info is on his home page. And of course his firebird would probably make your gsx look very laughable. I hope that answers the question(s).

Haha. Yeah, I just randomly stumbled across the thread and was suprised nobody mentioned the crazy boost used my so many dragsters. I saw how old it was and I was gonna mention something about "If you guys are still alive after 5 years" or something. hehe. Just wanted to set the record straight for anyone who might read the thread.

Thats awesome....Can't believe the Search Funtion actually worked....

I wish I could pull up some people's 1st post....I know my 1st post went something like

"Hey I am new here, I want to upgrade my car, I don't want to do anything crazy like headers, maybe just intake, exhaust, and where can I find a chip if they make one" :jest:

Sure enough I have eveolved to the point where a 500rwhp turbo car is the norm and I must have it just to keep up

Yeah, that's about where I'm starting (although I don't think of headers as "crazy", hehe), and that's where I'm hoping to end up if my finances someday allow.
