turbo exhaust housings

I have the t-76 (turbonetics) with a p-trim and .96 exhaust housing. it has been recommended to me to switch to a .81 housing to decrease spool time. What other changes would the smaller housing make? Does it just limit your max hp possible or increase your IAT? There has to be a trade off. I am hoping to change the downpipe to a bigger one, increase the size of the crossover pipe, change the housing to a .81 and accomplish: faster spool...same power with less boost. Any feedback? I'm happy with 500rwhp...the t-76 can easily support that so I'm hoping the .81 housing is basically the answer to my spool time. I have a .96 housing now.

i take it that all of us with the T-76 turbotech kit has the .96 turbine housing.
I am going to call Turbonetics today to find out more info, and prices. <img src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" />

In general a smaller AR turbine housing trades
high-RPM breathing/power for low-RPM response.

The exact trade off is combination specific.

In general, a 76 is a HUGE turbo and that is
your real spool limiter.....

I called Racetep.com (turbonetics supplier) and a .81 would cost around $275

how much do you think it will help out spool time? <img src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" border="0" alt="[judgement]" />

I talked to turbonetics...cotton perormance..and precision turbo. Basicall I got that this would help my spool time and since the p-trim t-76 is so big, the smaller a/r may actually not lose anything on top end since I only want 450-500rwhp
and 8 psi.
