How much boost can the stock pistons handle assuming there is no detonation? I've heard that they only become the weak link when detonation occurs. If you can keep that under control, they should be fine. Even the Buick GN's had non-forged pistons and can take plenty of boost. The reason I'm wondering is because it is possible to get down to around 9:1 CR by porting out 6.0L heads, and I'm strongly considering this. What are your thoughts on this approach? It would save me from digging into the engine if it works . . .
