How's the 5# ATI setup? Just doing some "homework". I want to get some power flowing and I want to stray from the norm and go SC instead of H/C. I've been checkin out all the different SC setups available and I think the 5# setup from ATI might be the "right" one for me. Reasoning behind "only" the 5# is because ATI says you don't really need to change anything. This true? As far as tuning and the fuel system I mean. I'm just seeing how cheap and effective I can get. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't hesitate to drop $6000 for the D1 and run 8#, but I don't really need that much yet. All I know is I want a SC. That's it. I don't want to have to change internals for a year after I get the SC (need to save up for that) So yeah, like I said, I've been researching and searching old posts but I'm still not finding what I'm looking for. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks everyone... Nate |
Re: How's the 5# ATI setup? I think the 5# kit isn't a bad way to start if you are sure you aren't going to want to run more boost in the near future. This will give you some time to plan a fuel system for when you upgrade to more boost. I kind of did the same thing as you're thinking of but with a 7# kit (38# injectors, inline fuel pump and tuning). This should keep me happy while I plan for a forged internal/fuel system overhaul and more boost. I can't wait to get this thing to the track. -Ken [ February 03, 2003, 08:51 PM: Message edited by: Ken G ] |
Re: How's the 5# ATI setup? Mine is currently only making 5psi due to the wrong pulley that was put on it. So, from the 5psi perspective, I wouldn't recommend it. I'm sure I could gain some more power from actually tuning it, rather than just making it safe to drive around on (waiting until I fix the boost problem), but it's not currently making all that much. Definitely not what my old tnt kit made, with any size jets. I'm sure once I get the boost right (might be as high as 12 or so w/ the crank pulley change) I'll be much happier, but 5 psi is not worth the cost IMO. Sounds neat, but an awfully expensive noisemaker. |
Re: How's the 5# ATI setup? Yeah, I'd really hate to get to the point where 5#s just isn't enough and I wouldn't be able to go higher. So yeah, I guess I'm just gonna go with the D-1SC, but now I'll have to upgrade the fuel system. Oh well, I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end Nate |
