Default Turbo guys inside (STS)

Ever since my turbo install the intake piping has had oil leaking from it. Not a very good thing. At first, we thought it just may have been the turbo seals, so I sent it out to be cleaned up and checked out. Turns out the seals were fine, but were replaced anyway. So oil was "pushing through" the seals. Next we checked the return oil pump in the back. Everything seemed to work fine. Voltage was good, stepped up at higher rpm's. Next we checked the PCV system which was fine. So what was causing all the oil? The fact that there wasn't a restrictor in the oil line was brought up, but the great ( ) tech help at STS wasnt sure if there was even supposed to be a restrictor, so I am left to the great mountain of knowledge here. Does anyone know what size, if any, restrictor is supposed to be in the oil line? If no restrictor, what is the damn problem? Recently my car has started bucking if any throttle was applied, and the MAF was absolutely SOAKED in oil. Thanks in advance.

I was having almost the same problem but mine was fixed by the check valve that sits on top of the turbo and feeds it oil. It was hard to pin point it too because it would slowly leak over time while the car was off, and as soon as I started the car the turbo would be full of oil and push into the intake tube, I was also getting oil out of the exhaust pipe and on my bumper when I got on it.

hope this helps

I'd bet this is the problem. If the car sits for a while, do you get oil on the ground under the turbo? I am having this same exact problem right now. The guys at STS are going to send me a new check valve for it.

Run a check valve indeed, but if the turbo continues to smoke you might want to try running a restrictor on the feed.

I replaced the check valve but I also had STS replace the Turbo and now the problem is solved and the turbo seems to work better and the motor pull harder. It seemed that the synthetic oils are thin enough that when it sits in the turbo it gets past the seals. Hope it all works out.

Just curious,

where is the check valve located? On the feed line to the turbo?

Thanks
