Best blown Tranny's?
 

I just read the post below concerning the 4L60E's and it's helpful:). I to, need advice from guy's already using boost.

What about the LS1 T56? That's what I have but will it take huge torque, (guessing at 700lb/ft ish. Can it be beefed up or should I just ditch that idea and go auto. My engine is using retro pcm so an electronic shift can't be undertaken. I need a box no bigger/wider then the t56. Is there an independant shift kit for the 4L60E?

Stay off slicks and the T56 with an aftermarket clutch will take whatever you give it.

Bolt on slicks and you're looking at nothing less than a TH400 for REAL reliability.

Thanks gents. So is Harlan using a stock t56? Of further interest is anybody out there known for uprating these boxes to handle a ridiculous amount of torque? I'm a bit concerned and don't want to end up changing the box at a later date. Don't forget, I'm in the UK quite a few miles away.

From what I have heard, and experienced, the output shaft is what people that are typically making big power break on these transmissions.

You can swap in the viper shaft, but it involves some work. Talk to Norm over at Westech...he and I discussed it several months ago. Given my goals for the car I decided that it wasn't worth it for me.

I couldn't agree more...

I twisted the output shaft on my t-56 on slicks. I now have a TH400 installed.

Although, Harlan and others seem to have had pretty good luck.

Harlan's stock internal with an iron fork. I know Shawn Carter (Valvegod) and he indicates that there really isn't anything made to upgrade the T56 aside from fiber blockers and such. The T56s from the 03Cobra, Viper, Z06, and the F-Body really don't share much hardware.

Thanks for the info. I know Shawn. Looks like I shall start with my preferred option of a T56 but have an auto as backup if I need it. Cheers.

Why not look into something like a richmond 6 speed. It will be stronger than a t56.
What kind of driving do you do?
