Turbo rpm's? What is the highest potential RPM for the average turbocharger? Not the motor, the turbo itself. |

The highest we see with the big units is 130-140K on our compound twin turbo pulling tractors and trucks. But then again the turbos only last 2-3 pulls and sustain 150-200 psi of boost :eek2: for 8-10 secs and over 300ft if your hooking :) ...then its rebuild time. Thats alot of boost, and smoke lol. |
A pair of 91.5mm on our dyno ran between 45,000-58,000 to make 2500hp. I have a 67mm with a sensor, but I have never ran it. Kurt |
Why do they need to rebuild so often? What gets damaged and what causes the damage? |

Lots of impeller rpms, insane heat (2000-2400 EGT)...etc..etc. JZ |
Are there gauges that show impeller RPMs? Or, are the speeds just calculations? |
alright, well, whats the typical rpm's o the turbos that we use on LSx engines? Street driven monster type cars. |
