Does anybody have a Really Quiet D1SC? Hey guys,
I'm running a d1sc and that sucker is just loud. I thought I would get used to the noise but I just haven't yet. Is there anybody out there with a real quiet D1sc? Maybe where you can still hear it,...but just barely.
First I want to know if they even exist or if ALL D1sc are loud,...Second, if anybody wants a louder one....maybe a possible trade.

It shouldn't be that loud, make sure the blower belt is tight. The belt should be almost tight enough to strum it like a guitar string, and when the belt is on the loose side you'll hear more noise. Bob

Does your car have a smooth idle? Is it a stick or auto? Why?...well as the engine idles the crank slows down as a cylinder comes up on compression and then speeds up as the cylinder fires. This speed up and slow down causes the lash in the gears to be taken up on the teeth in the supercharger transmission which causes the noise you're objecting too. If you raise the rpm to 1000-1100 you will notice it gets quieter as crank has more inertia and spins more at the same rate. By the way this crank speed fluctuation is what the computer uses to log a missed cylinder. Its just more pronounced when the cylinder doesn't fire.

Mark,...so you have a sound or video clip of the procharger idling on the car.
The idle is fairly steady at about 700-800 rpm. How do you raise the rpm on the car? Will I be losing a crap load of gas if I do?

Just got my D1SC installed and the belt is pretty tight on it and that thing howls like a banshee. Every night I goto bed I can still hear the wine in my head but it is an attention getter though. My rpm range fluctuates for some reason it ranges at about 700-800 sometimes and then around 900-1000 and I see no difference in sound but in driveablity, I for some reason can tell a difference. when its at 700-800 it wants to drive like a normal car but in 900-1000 it feels like it wants to go race someone. We still tuning the car its wanting to run really lean for some reason.
As far as exhuast goes I have pacesetter headers and Dumped True Duels with 18" dynomax Bullets and I can still hear that D1 easy I hope you get really really loud exhuast if you don't want to hear that D1. Only solution I have found to not hear the Blower is to turn the music up pretty loud.
