Not to mention anytime I've ever seen a car on fire ath the strip the driver is usually trying to get out in a hurry!

Halon, be it ozone depleting or not, has saved numerous lives and lessened or prevented literally thousands of fire-related injuries.
It is good stuff, will put out a small backfire-type flame with a QUICKNESS! In the event of a "big" fire, it definitely gives you precious seconds to seperate your Hiney from the seat.
Thanks for the reply to my wheelie bar question. Again, I wasn't second guessing you guys, I was just wondering what your thinking was. I didn't think about the heavier car + lots of torque logic. Our car (1999 Haas-built NHRA Pro Stock Trans Am running in Top Sportsman) has solid wheelie bars, but they are not "really" long, I would guess they extend no more than a foot or so past the rear spoiler (our spoiler is much like the one on Dave's car), but our car weighs in a just under 2800 Race Ready, so that would make a lot of difference.

Not to much progress has been made since yesterday but I do believe some parts are arriving today

The Bull
Halon can be used in car applications and can be produced as long as it's reclaimed. No new Halon can be reproduced. Newer systems use the Dupont alternative which is not toxic. Companies like Safecraft use Halon while Firefox uses either the Dupont suppressing agent or foam. Firefox also uses a bladder based discharge for their agents. That basically makes sure that it's 100% fire agent that gets discharged while the propellant gas itself is kept separate from the agent.
I had a Safecraft bottle previously. Going to switch to dual Firefox 10# bottles for the new setup. Regardless of the fact that you may not be able to breathe when it's discharged a dual stage setup would allow you to discharge independently to the inside of the car or under hood. When given a choice between burning severely or buying some time I'll take the buy time option any day.
