you need at least 7 grand to do it, prob more like 8 to do it right. i see you already have a forged motor. that is good, look into an sts kit. they are fairly low priced for what they can do, and why run 6psi on a forged motor...go for at least 8 :devil: |
honestly, if you dont know anything, do A LOT of reading here first. Its not a budget friendly setup... |

I will be helping Brad on this and always wanted to do one on my Z I had. It is possible to do! 6.0 manifolds and pre bent mandrel tubing off ebay. Is a 60-1 good enough to get him 5-7 psi? And please don't tell me that an i/c is a must at that level. I know its better and at higher boost I would. He is just looking for a little extra power and a uniqueness factor. I say you don't have to have an i/c as I had a 72 Nova w/ a 350 2-bolt block, stock crank/rods (balanced), hypereutectic pistons, Turbonetics turbo, and NO i/c! This was built by Turbo Tech and put down ~560 rwhp @ ~16 psi! I had the car 13 yrs after it was built and it needed new rings as it had been beat on a lot. 60-1 Turbo - ~$350 Tubing - ~$150-$200 Manifolds - ? I will tac everything together and then pull off to weld up. Jason |

Honestly I would get a bigger turbo than a 60-1 for a 350, just leave yourself room to grow+ you doing want a turbo that may be constrictive. I'm doing twin 60-1s for a 408 but my goals are probly set alot higher than yours. For a 350 I would probly look into a MP 70 if your hp goal isnt too high. As for cost, you can do it faily cheap since your motor is already ready. The turbo setup itself shouldn't run your much more than 1500$ if your really smart with your money, but what is really going to suprise you will be the cost of an adequate fuel system... injectors, pumps, etc. |

Do injectors HAVE to be changed for a say 425 rwhp setup? This is just a for the heck of it set up. I say ~$1,000 can be done w/ lower goals... He will probably get addicted and down the road go bigger/better/nicer and off the set up for cheap. But this is just something to play with.... |

a turbo setup is more then just turbo, piping and truck manifolds...you need a wastegate and a BOV and becuse your going to run such low boost you need a huge wastgate to stop boost creep...expect to spend over 300 on a wastegate and then atleast 150 on a BOV you need a boost gauge, i would get a AFR wideband and guage, the shit adds up....expect to spend around 3k. oh yea i think a good turbo is gunna run you over 300 i got mine used for 900 |
oh yea you can make the power you want with a decent H/C package...it would be cheaper and offer fewer headaches. |
As has been said..you need a bigger pump..racetronix is pretty cheap,you need bigger injectors..42's can be found used..You need a way to tune for the injectors and run a richer afpr for the turbo than na. A wideband is nice but not critical.You can watch knock on the scanner and you need scanner and tuning..hp tuners is good one .You don't need bar stuff at lower power.maf will work fine. You do need like was said a decent wastegate..internals might do the job not sure. externals help the bigger turbos stay rock steady at low boost levels.Internals can creep and creep can kill engines.Although you are forged so you have safety margin. You need good couplers and clamps as well.A blow off on a manual car..not necessary on autos as much. Anyway good luck fabbing something up for cheap.And intercooler is not necessary at like 5 or 6 psi but intercoolers are fairly cheap for ones like obx. Water/alco injection kits work well too. |
