Default New exhaust manifold option for DIY'er turbo kits???

Hmmm..

Ran across this pic from a guy building up a 71 Nova with an LS1 thats also getting a turbocharger.(Badass BTW)

Its off a 05 Gran Prix with the 5.3L

Here is a truck manifold for reference

Looks like it would outlet a lot better on the passenger side, instead of how the truck manifold points down and into the stock K member if you are running one.

Might be able to keep the A/C as well??? Don't quote me on that tho...

Anyone try to fit one of these yet?

thats awsome,
doesnt look like it will allow all the exhaust to merge as well as the truck manis.
and what about that ball flange?

Damn man, and I just ordered my truck manifolds, too! Definitely like the way it points out straighter at the flange than the truck manifolds.

Ed ball flange is remedied by getting aftermarket ball flanges, or having stainless works fab up a fix or even buying the crossover from the 05 GP as well and chopping the flange end off the crossover and using it for your turbo crossover. Thats what the guy with the Nova did.

Should merge fine, since it is all custom work anyway, just like a truck manifold kit is. Just have to join the two manifolds together add turbo and go fast

I'm throwin it out because it looks like it might clear the a/c compressor

FUroundeye, ordered?? should got those things used off ebay or here on tech

PSJ, really thinking of getting one to see how it fits and where everything lines up on our cars....but...if yours is in the process of being fabbed..

I did Thank you Performance Trucks forum...

What about clearing the water pump? That'd be my biggest concern (besides the fact that finding a used pair of those relatively inexpensively ain't gonna be easy). Have any more pics of that guy's setup, or better yet a link to his site?

That looks awesome! If it clears the AC compressor it'll definitely be worth it!

Hmmm, those look like they might fit a C5 if flipped for a top mount TT. Interesting.

Edit: okay I want a set to see if they'll fit... anyone have part numbers or know where I can get a set?

OH SNAP. That with a regular truck manifold on the driver's side and A/C would be easy to keep

Okay, I did a little searching... The manifolds can be bought new through GM under the following part#'s:

Left = 12569053
Right = 12569054

Someone can dbl check this. The price I was quoted was $146 each.

I hope this helps.

Remember, the front manifold on a FWD 5.3 is very different from the rear. It is a transverse engine. I have not seen the rear manifold, but I would speculate that it goes either straight down in the center or has a center exit pointing away from the engine (straigh into the tunnel). I can guarantee you it is not the mirror of the front manifold, though.

Great find. I am going to check those part numbers with the Pontiac dealer next door. I'll post up what the cost is.
