I agree 100%. I think gauges are mandatory. What if your wastegate malfunctions, or the hose comes off it?

STICKY! :thumb:

StoleIt 09-03-2006 02:24 AM

Very good write up, I'll look into getting it stickied, etc. Those "is $4321.59 enough?" threads are really annoying.

StoleIt 09-03-2006 02:26 AM

Sticky!

Like I always say, "It's not a matter of getting in the game, it's a matter of staying in the game."

Here is a quick breakdown for my combo to give you an idea:

-- Motor - forged 346 w/ AFR heads and custom cam, LS6 intake. Comp 921 springs. $8,000
-- Turbo kit - $9,000
-- Fuel pump, 60 # injectors, KB BAP, Meth kit - $1,500
-- Built 4L6X, Yank Convertor, trans cooler, etc - $4,500
-- Borla catback + x-pipe - $750
-- Blitz EBC w/ LC-1 WB02 + Boost/fuel gauges - $1,250

That's $25,000 and that's not adding one dime for labor (other than assembling the motor).

I am looking at an A/F gauge, but I don't know what the difference between a wideband O2 vs. a narrowband O2 gauge is. I guess what benefit do you get from a wideband over narrowband?

ddnspider 09-08-2006 07:46 PM

wideband=accurate air fuel ratio to monitor ur system
narrowband=colorful light display

exactly what he said, the wideband will give u a constant accurate A/F ration while the narrowband will let you know only at WOT if ur running alittle rich or alittle lean, which isnt any help

Not always, I use my brother’s old narrow band wired into the programmable output on my LM1 programmed to give a linear display making it actually useful, since it no equates to a real range of numbers.

It gives me a quick, visual/color indication of what is happening.

Great sticky and thread! Looking to get turboed and this helps a lot.

2002/Black/SS 09-21-2006 10:38 PM

Methanol injection added!

Im sure this price is going to scare alot of people away from going turbo. I just dont understand why "kits" are so expensive. I should do a price list and breakdown on what mine cost, and for people who wish to truley build their own. You'll only save like $6-7k.
