Sorry the camera was a little shakey

Custom self contained oiling system
Ground clearance isn't bad, could be better if I didn't run the oil sump on th ebottomo of the turbo

sts had a problem with water getting into the turbo when it rained. I think they put a guard on the filter to prevent it. Maybe ask a sts owner for more info.

I've got a sock for it, but come on, when was the last time you saw rain I think it was like a year ago? Oh no maybe those where lawn sprinklers. But thanks, I would like a shield, the rainy season is approaching

Please describe your self-contained oiling system. Sounds like a very cool idea for a rear mount. What's the capacity of the resevoir?

The oil system starts with an oil sump from a 911 turbo (type 996). The sump after being modified to match the turbos outlet flange is bolted up and holds about 1/4 of a quart. -6an line feeds the same type of motor STS uses to pump the oil back to the engine, but I used it to provide pressurized oil to the turbo. Then the oil goes into a B&M cooler with fan and 180* thermostat. After the cooler the oil goes back to the turbo inlet. I measured, and with the cooler and lines full the system holds about a 1qt. Which according to some turbo book means the oil will do one full circulation every 15 sec. I've only heard the coolers fan turn on twice and both times I was on a DYNO. The two parts that I left out, which where the hardest parts to make work correct, are the Oil pump D.C. speed controller, and the needle and seat oil bypass. The speed controller is Pulse Width Modulator PWM type it sends 12volt to the pump but at varying intervals so the motor sees from 3-12volts thus varing the speed/pressure. I use two speeds one for no boost and one while boosting. when everything is hot its about 12psi idle and 30psi while boosting, pressures are higher untill the oil reaches optimum temp. Same book i read said these presures are fine and so far its worked for 2 years. The needle and seat is just a small bypass because the electric motor would stall trying to push cold oil just through the turbo. So a small amount is able to bypass and return to the sump without going through the turbo. Sorry that was a lot to write, Im sure there are hundreds of other little things I forgot but overall for about $1,000.00 Everything works great.

I think on a camaro it might be more visble but on the WS6 its hard to see, the only hint of something under the car is the bottom of the oil resovoir, which is why I ran the charge pipe under the axle. It acts as a shield for the resovoir.
