I tell you guys what.....
When I get to the workshop this morning I will set up an obstacle course in the driveway (a bit like a 4x4 test track) and take some shots of the car running over some stupid sized stuff....hopefully then we can move on

Huge thumbs up from me for doing that. Most vendors won't bother.

Keeps you on the top of my list for the G8 kit once that car hits the states.

I think my question was missed
-Does the foam need to be altered/removed for the FMIC?
-Does bumper block flow to the IC?
-How is it supported?
-Does it affect radiator airflow?
-Any more pics of it installed?
Thanks

Might be worth asking....

I assume there would be import duties for US guys bringing in these kits ?

I know I get well and truly shafted with duties when I import stuff to the UK.

Sure did get missed!
- This car came to us without foam in place, however from the pictures I have seen either cutting or removing the foam would be a requirement.
- All bumpers block flow to the intercooler in some way shape or form. Thankfully the Trans-Am isnt too bad in that department
- The intercooler is supported by four brackets
- Front mount intercoolers definitely do interfere with airflow. The trick from an engineering viewpoint is to pick the core that interferes the least while still maintaining good intercooler efficiency. We use this core over in Qatar where the temperatures often get to 115F during the day without overheating problems
- What other pics would you like?

No duties thankfully Stevieturbo! All comes back to the FTA (Free Trade Agreement) between Australia and the US. Here it is working as intended

Can you stick an average weight person in the car and get a measurement from the :

*oil pan to the ground

*pipes under pan to the ground

*bottom of compressor housing to the ground.

I dont need a version a Disney's test track, I just wanted some measurements. This has been missed twice. Reguardless, I assume it would be 3.5" of ground clearance on a stock height car from measuring mine.

Can't wait to see some pics. My pans 5 3/4 off the ground from the factory so im kind of curious to see how you managed 5 1/2 with the kit installed. I asked this a little earlier and never got a response, but did this car come from north carolina by chance?

thanks for the reply. Maybe some pics of the IC with the bumper on. Im just curious because I was always under the impression that unless we cut the front of the T/A bumper (license plate area) or removed the fog lights that there wasnt enough airflow. So i mounted my IC parallel to the ground in the opening that flows air to the radiator. I like where yours is mounted but im afraid of losing strength for the bumper with all of the foam out. I'd like it to stay rigid and have plenty of support.

Gah... I almost wish these things were about twice what they cost. I mean, at this price, it's somewhat competative with a H/C set up. If they get any lower in price, there'll be almost no reason to go with anything other than one of these new TT kits your two companies are putting out for a street car. But, I still won't have enough money to get one and everything I would need to hold that kind of power!

I don't know. If I get hired in Springfield for their newspaper, I'll have enough money probably. So, my dream of TT isn't without a flicker of hope...

EDIT: After reading all 14 pages now, I'll only be interested in a street kit (over the K-member) as ground clearance will be an issue with me (lowered ~1.5") for my DD.

How soon will we know something about the above-K-member street kit?

Hey, heres what we did for you guys
I got Mark Phillips (who is coming over to open our office in the USA, so get to know him!) and said 'Mark....how much do you weigh?'

So we put him on the scales and there you go he cranks in at a fairly substantial 14 stone in the old money. Not a small lad by any means coming in at 6'2"....Now to get the ground clearance thing sorted!

So we drove the F-body outside the shop and parked it across our sloped driveway to get the best sized piece of level ground (this way the front and the rear of the car are even). But, hey, thats Mark in the car....but whats that under the car?

Thats right, a couple of good old fashioned tins of SPAM. You can see that with one stood upright and one laid on its side that the true ground clearance at the rear of the turbocharger (they slant upwards slightly) is shown
This works out to be some 5.5 inches (go measure the SPAM tins in your kitchen!)

More importantly in Aussie though, how many of THESE is the car likely to clear if you run one down at high speed....

Here is where Mark gets creative, goes to the fridge and pulls out the remains of three freshly chopped up Kanagaroos that are getting ready for the BBQ!

The answer to the eternal question of ground clearance on the Gen-TT Fbody then is - at stock height, 5.5 inches, 1.5 cans of SPAM, of 3 whole kangaroos (well not really!)
