Its also going to depend on what stainless you have. Here is a pic of my WE4. The downpipe and the intercooler pipes are stainless, just two different types. The intake pipe is aluminum.

well from the pics the stainless looks MUCH better than aluminum and very little upkeep unlike aluminum where you have to polish it often in order to keep the shine

Trying to compare stainless to aluminum is like comparing apple to oranges. Aluminum will always have a "white" colored finish, no matter how you polish it. Stainless will always have the "darker" color when polished, which looks close to chrome. With out a doubt, stainless, when polished properly will always look better then aluminum. It's just a little harder to polish.
