Default uh-oh fbody d1sc bracket and tension pulley

i found last night that the top part of my tensioner pulley is digging into my bracket.... right now the belt i have on it is a little longer than reccomended so the bolt is pretty close to the bottom... but other than that my alignment is fine... does this mean the tensioner is too tight?

there is a little bit of metal dust and the pulley is kinda ground down on that one side and there is a small groove in my bracket.... the tensioner does look crooked now...

what to do? what to do..

Exact same thing happened to me. The bolt that the pulley rides on was loose (not like you could tell with all that belt tension on it). I tightened it and all was well.

I'm suprised you couldn't hear it, mine made a bad grinding noise.

Or like kp said, your bearings went bad.

My exhaust is pretty quiet I suppose (in comparison to most cars with this much power). I could hear it pretty well, but in all fairness I had the windows down and the T tops out when it happened.

I had one of the bearings turn to powder and the idler was rubbing the bracket on a daily driver with a stock exhaust and I never heard it, just noticed metal dust under the hood and figured I should find out where it was coming from

well i backed the tensioner out and the pulley never started to come to the top even with all the pressure the belt had on it... so i tried to loosen the pulley and it still didnt move... i started to try and tighten it to see if a gap would start to re-appear and the bolt twisted off (or was already twisted)
I'd like to think im that strong but with the position i was in and the small rachet i had i dont think so.... i looked at the pulley and i coult see that it broke off flush with the piece that the tension bolt hits.... im gonna say it was either a bearing failed then broke the bolt or the bolt is just broken...

i may look into the sdce since it broke a 9/16 thread! but hell i cant ever get on the phone with those people

i'll let you guys know how it worked out..
